Where Plovdiv Locals Actually Eat.

Guide Commentary
Rahat Tepe sits on Nebet Tepe hill in the Old Town where locals actually hang out—no pretense, just solid Bulgarian food and incredible city views. The kitchen delivers generous portions of grilled meats, fresh salads, and hearty stews that taste like someone's grandmother made them. You'll find families and regulars here more than the guidebook crowd, especially if you go for lunch or early evening. The spareribs are massive (easily two people), and the fried zucchini with yogurt is criminally good. Staff knows what they're doing and won't oversell you. Prices sit around €10–20 per person, which feels fair given the portions and quality. Grab a local beer, snag a table with the view, and you've got an honest meal that tastes like Plovdiv actually tastes.[2][4][5].

The spareribs were very nice! It was enough for 2 persons. Also very nice service and cute cats to cuddle with. Good place to have a nice lunch
Large beer house, well promoted apparently. We were greeted and seated promptly during an afternoon with not many customers. Food was good but average. Fried trout, tuna salad, potatoes with three cheeses, Greek salad, beer. Cute kittens entertain the guests. Good view of the town from the terrace.
Very friendly staff, but it got crowded which increased the waiting time at several tables. If you want to have a table outside (with the best view) you definitely have to make a reservation. Otherwise they will probably have a table for you inside, but that was very hot with not a lot of cooling. Also the tables were quite sticky and a lot of stray cats hanging around in the restaurant. The menu and food were okay with even some surprising dishes like duck hearts, but everything was served quite randomly as snacks, which suits a beer garden.
We had the chicken mix hot plate and fried zucchini, and everything was absolutely delicious. The food came out hot and full of flavor, with generous portions and great presentation. The view from the terrace is stunning — the perfect spot to enjoy a meal, especially at sunset. Service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting.
The food and service were great, and the view was even better. We had green salad, zucchini Greek style (was incredible!! )staffed cabbage leaves, chicken on a hot plate and beer. The portions are big, so it’s perfect for sharing. definitely worth visiting! Enjoy :)
