Guide Commentary

# Shevitsa: Plovdiv's Culinary Secret in Kapana Tucked away in the atmospheric Kapana district, Shevitsa represents modern Bulgarian cuisine at its finest. This intimate restaurant transforms traditional Rhodope mountain recipes into refined dishes that feel both authentic and inventive—think crispy pork ear alongside contemporary plating that respects rather than gimmicks the heritage ingredients. The bilingual service team genuinely cares about your experience, offering thoughtful menu guidance without pretension. Diners return repeatedly, often three times during short stays, drawn by the consistently excellent execution and warm hospitality. The quiet, removed-from-the-chaos setting provides the perfect backdrop for special occasions or meaningful meals. Reservations are wise, particularly for weekends, as word has clearly spread among those seeking serious Bulgarian food prepared with real craftsmanship. This is destination dining that justifies the detour from Old Town's tourist thoroughfares.

I highly recommend this restaurant. Everything from the ambiance, food, and service was as good as it can get. We tried porcini mushrooms with bread, pork and lamb for dinner, and chocolate sausage for dessert. I think the pork steak was slightly better than my lamb chops but both tasted exceptional. There was kind of an Asian-inspired vibe in both of the meat plates. Don't be afraid of the chocolate sausage; there's no meat in it and it reminded me of fudge. The chocolate sausage is served along with the most creamy/delicious ice cream you have ever tasted. Run don't walk to this restaurant now.

Delicious food and outstanding service. A must go in Plovdiv. The waitress gave us a very detailed explanation of the menu and recommended a very good selection of dishes to try. We will definitely go back.

We don’t normally revisit restaurants but we ate here 3 times in our 5 nights stay in Plovdiv it was so good. Really friendly staff, brilliant food. We tried things we’d never had like crispy pigs ears (spoiler- amazing). Everything we had was good- great bread too. In the trendy area of Kapana but definitely a cut above. The best little bars where locals go are just up from here too

One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to as a local Bulgarian, and definitely one of the best places for Bulgarian food with a modern twist. The dishes are authentic yet creative, and the service was outstanding- fast, polite, and very helpful when it came to choosing from the menu. The gyuvetche and risotto were our favorites, both cooked to perfection, and the desserts were simply amazing. A unique and cozy dining experience overall. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Plovdiv!
