Restaurant Essig's

We'd been talking about eating here for ages. My husband stumbled upon Essig's by chance when he was looking for a coffee in the area. A truly excellent restaurant. We had a wonderful meal. Even the quark dumplings for dessert were incredibly light. Thank you so much!

Today was the first time in ages that we ate at "Essig's" – and what can I say: it was amazing! For our meal, we were served two spreads: a very fine minced meat and a spicy asparagus spread. Both were a great start! As a special treat, we were treated to a superb little veal carpaccio roll (see photo 1). For our starters, we both had the "Sauerei" (sausage dish) consisting of grilled pork belly, mini greaves dumplings on sauerkraut, and blood sausage medallions – to die for! (see photo 2) For our main course, I had monkfish medallions on green asparagus and beetroot risotto – a poem in itself! Since my wife couldn't find anything suitable on the menu, the maestro quickly put together a dish for her – she was blown away! Last but not least: The extremely friendly, warm-hearted, and welcoming padrona of the house, who looked after us very competently and extremely professionally. We had a culinary experience of a superior class, one that we will definitely repeat soon!

5 stars: Very good cuisine, the ambiance and atmosphere were very nice, or rather appealing to us, and the service was friendly. A terrace is available for the summer. With the recommended wines to accompany the dishes, it was always a thoroughly enjoyable evening, which we were able to enjoy. Even during the lockdown, delicious menus were prepared for takeaway, which were then finalized at home with very little effort.
