We dined here this evening, and the highlight was the mixed bread plate and aubergine spread: possibly the best I’ve ever had, and I really need to figure out the recipe! We couldn’t try the lamb shoulder for two, as the portions are huge and we wanted to sample a little bit more of everything, so we went with the goat stew instead. It was delicious, but not as memorable as some I’ve had before. A couple of menu items I wanted to try, the liver fry and boiled zucchini, weren’t available tonight. We ordered meatballs instead, but they never arrived. The goat stew also came with fries instead of the chickpeas or beans listed on the menu. It’s not a huge problem, but when the dishes you’re excited about aren’t provided, it’s a bit disappointing, especially after waiting to dine here for a long time. Unlike other traditional tavernas, they didn’t offer any treats after dining. Something like a local sweet or fruit would have been a lovely finishing touch. That said, I really enjoyed the laid-back cozy atmosphere, traditional dishes, and locally sourced ingredients. One should definitely try when on Rhodes.
First of all, it’s well worth the drive! This traditional Greek restaurant is such a gem where is located in countryside. It’s around 1 hour drive from downtown Rhodes. The most famous dishes of this restaurant is the ‘Kapamas’. It’s s shoulder lamb which being cooked in the wooden oven for 10 hours. I also ordered some Zucchini fritters and Greek salad. They make their own bread and it is delicious. The last but not least, I ordered ‘orange pie’ as a dessert. It was so flavorful and delicious. The portions were big and I paid €35 total. I’d absolutely come back here if I ever go to Rhodes again! Thank you.
It is the best lamp i have ever tested by far. They cooked slowly 3 hours far from fire then cooked on the fire before serve to have a crunchy texture. You should definitely teste here if you are bored from truistic low taste restaurants. Portions are quite big and owners are very warm and welcoming. Thanks for these amazing foods.
While wandering through Rhodes, we stopped at this tavern. The tavern was nice and clean, and the tables were set simply but beautifully. The food, coffee, and wine were excellent. The service was friendly, and the prices were also good. We're glad we stopped here.
Incredible taverna up in the mountains. I had found this reading some articles before my holiday and then had it recommended to us in Pefkos. Well worth the beautiful drive. Very simple menu but done incredibly. They squeezed us in before the kitchen closed and we were incredibly grateful. Food was incredible and the staff were so friendly too.
