Attracted by the great reviews we went for dinner here on our way from Kalamata to Tripoli. The previous reviews are totally right! Great traditional food, wonderful service. The terrace is on the other side of the street on the main square, with a very nice atmosphere.

We stopped at this lovely meat restaurant on our way from Messene towards Kalamata — and it was a true culinary gem! Perfectly cooked steaks and souvlaki, a fresh and juicy Greek salad, and excellent local wine made this stop unforgettable. A heartfelt thank you to the owner, Dimitrios, for his warm and family-like hospitality. He welcomed us with genuine kindness and care, creating a cozy and relaxed atmosphere that made us feel at home. The drive itself is incredibly scenic, with beautiful Peloponnesian landscapes all around. If you’re traveling nearby, make sure to stop here — it’s more than worth the short detour!

Best restaurant in the area. The chef was very entertaining and funny. His food was perfectly cooked for so less money you get a huge portion all handmade and with love. Good music and nice people. I recommend this place to every person or tourist that wants a nice experience of greek food.

The tavernas in these small towns tell the real story of Greece. We had such a wonderful time at this Taverna. The food was fantastic but conversing with the people was a highlight of our stay and we left feeling like we got to know a small piece of this village. Highly recommend leaving the big cities to connect with people in the small towns. Thank you!

We went to the village of Arfara on a whim, just to discover the villages above Kalamata. After enjoying a warm welcome in a café, we asked for recommendations for local tavernas and this place was one of them. We walked into an empty (it was early), but atmospheric old stone building with a roaring wood burner in the corner. We were soon met by the owner Dimitri who was the most friendly, genuine, and welcoming host we had met in a long, long time. We discovered that the taverna was also the local butchers' shop, so we knew the meat on offer would be good. Sometimes places can be very hit and miss, but truly, this was the biggest hit with us. We both had pork chop with chips, salad accompaniment and tsatziki. These were no ordinary chops, they were absolutely huge, and cooked to absolute perfection. Every part of the thick meat was cooked just how it should be, with a moist steak part, but crispy and caramelised, not burned bone part. Num! The wine on offer was a Rosé, which I never normally drink. But, what a beautiful wine it was...very soft, floral and extremely quaffable. By the time we were happily eating, the place was starting to fill up with locals, who were all very friendly too. It was a total pleasure to experience this taverna, and to meet the lovely Dimitris and his family. We will go out of our way to return there and we recommend it without hesitation.
