I have eaten at similar style of restaurants all across North America, and Geco was as good or better than any other meal I’ve ever had. If you are ever in Athens, you would be remiss to not eat here. By far the best meal I have had in a long time. We loved it so much we ate here twice in a week. I will certainly be back the next time I find myself in Athens. If I could give it 6 stars I would. Brilliant restaurant
I went to this restaurant because it was highly rated, and since I was only in Athens for 72 hours, I wanted to give it a try. I’m used to dining at some of the best restaurants in major cities around the world—London, New York, Paris, Dubai, Saint-Tropez, and Mykonos—so I was curious to see if it lived up to the hype. First, let’s talk about the food. It’s good, even very good—I have nothing negative to say about the quality itself. However, when you compare the cuisine with the prices, that’s where the issue lies. For what you pay, you expect something truly outstanding. Taken on its own, the food is enjoyable, but the portions are extremely small—almost like something you’d serve to a 14-year-old. For example, the Greek salad costs €24, with a production cost of maybe €2. Personally, I find that price excessive. Then comes the service, which I found to be quite poor. I waited 33 minutes for a simple pasta dish with two small pieces of fish. When the waiter tried to tell me it had been “less than 20 minutes,” I showed him the stopwatch I had running—it was clearly over 30. Finally, the biggest downside for me was the music. It was unbearably loud, making it impossible to have a proper conversation. It felt more like being in a nightclub than in a fine dining restaurant. So here’s my recommendation: if you’re going on a date and just want to impress someone, have a drink, or enjoy a small tasting plate, then it’s fine. But if you’re going alone like I did, with friends to talk, or to celebrate something, either be prepared to spend the evening without talking—or simply don’t go. Overall, I’d give it a 12, maybe 13 out of 20 considering all of the above.
The food was so good!! We walked into a very pleasing atmosphere, flowers and clouds! The service was impeccable. We asked to move due to someone smoking a cigar and they moved us immediately. The Gyro Iberico, hummus, pasta, salad and chicken were the highlights. The staff was welcoming and we are excited to go again once we return to Athens.
Very nice place. Overrated and prices are a bit high for the offerings. Not a great menu variety but very nice place for an intimate dinner. The live music and singer are definitely a big plus
We celebrated my birthday dinner at Geco and it was the perfect spot for a special occasion. The atmosphere is elegant but not pretentious, with live music adding a beautiful ambiance to the evening. Every dish we tried was exceptional—from the octopus and beef tartare to the seafood lollipops and lamb. The service was attentive and thoughtful. As a surprise, they brought out a birthday profiterole dessert that was dreamy and indulgent. Geco gave us one of our most memorable meals in Greece. A must if you're looking for a special night out in Athens.
