Mpirmpilo in Kolonaki is one of those spots you instantly feel happy you discovered. The vibe is warm and welcoming, and the staff are genuinely friendly, always smiling and making you feel like you’ve been there before. The service is super fast, and even though the place is always buzzing, everything arrives on time without any stress or delays. The food is seriously delicious. Every dish we ordered came out quickly and was packed with flavor. This was my second time visiting, and it was just as good as the first, maybe even better. It’s the kind of place you know you’ll return to whenever you’re back in Athens. One thing you should know: make a reservation. The restaurant is full pretty much all the time, and it would be a pity to show up and not find a table. The location is great too, right in the heart of Kolonaki. After you eat, you can take a nice walk around the area, grab a drink, or continue your night anywhere you want, since everything is close by. Overall, Mpirmpilo has great food, great people, and a great atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit!

Best Greek restaurant in the area. Only on a lucky day walk in without reservation, it's a busy and popular place amongst locals & tourists. Beer was chilled, carbonated and with a head. Gyros portion was tasty and ever so small. The deep fried crisps are really tasty; take them unsalted or lightly salted as the combination of the two leaves an overpowering and unpleasant taste. 31€ is rather pricy for what you see on 📸

Visiting Athens came with many emotions for my daughter and me. We didn’t want to simply see the city—we wanted to experience it. That’s why we chose this restaurant as our very first Athenian meal. After landing, we went straight from the airport to our hotel, dropped our bags, and came here. Food The menu was easy to follow, offering a compact but thoughtful selection of dishes. At first, I was unsure about local dining customs—I didn’t want to make a mistake at the table. So, I observed quietly before ordering. I chose the stuffed vegetables with rice, while my daughter ordered the chicken in tomato sauce. The rice in my dish was slightly undercooked, but the flavors were excellent and left a strong impression. Bread with local cheese was served immediately, which felt like a genuine welcome to Athens. My daughter also enjoyed her meal very much. To clarify: we did leave some food behind, but only because we were tired and adjusting to the time difference. It was not because of the quality, which was very good. Service Service was warm and attentive throughout. It was clear that we were tourists, but this never translated into impatience or indifference. Instead, we felt a sense of openness and kindness. As visitors, we appreciate this greatly. Respect for the people, culture, and food of the places we visit is something we hold in high regard, and this experience confirmed why Athens is so welcoming. Atmosphere The atmosphere was exactly what we hoped for. Watching people take their time with food—talking, sharing, enjoying—was refreshing. In the United States, meals often feel rushed. Here, dining is treated as an experience, not just a necessity. That difference stood out in the best way. Final Thoughts I have no criticism to give. What stood out most was not only the food itself, but the sense of hospitality behind it. This restaurant does more than serve meals—it creates an experience that reflects the spirit of Athens. We look forward to returning.

I've been twice here and it was a very different experience each time. First time everything was good and food was okay. Second time though experience was just from another world: they brought salad and fries and completely forgot the main courses lamb kebab and grilled liver. When asked them about if (after 30min from ordering) they started to lie and to tell me to eat my salad and chips. Conclusion: they are good but they fake it a lot and you need extra caution. Be aware at the blond waitress, she is dumb.

If you’re in Kolonaki I highly recommend this restaurant. We are here twice and every meal was beautiful. The lamb fricasse was outstanding, the Cretan carbonara, moussaka it was all outstanding. The portokalopita for dessert is also a must.
