Hidden gem! The best one in Antwerp. Very authentic Chinese food in this area 🤩🤩, home made taste. Interesting to see that how they hand pulled noodle in front of us. Cozy place and affordable price. Strongly recommended!!
WARNING they do not accept credit cards and you need a reservation on weekends. The food is outstanding! The duck with fried noodles was the best meal I ate during a week across Belgium.
I came for a late lunch/early dinner and was blown away by the food! The servers were extremely nice! The hand pulled noodles are delicious! It’s extremely difficult to make simple food well, but they know exactly what they’re doing! I ordered the duck appetizer, and it was yummy! The fresh soy milk reminded me of my mom. And the shrimp won ton with fresh noodles in soup lived up to the hype!
Have been here twice already and loved it both times! Would recommend the spicy boiled fish (you can adjust the spice level, as we did) and the black pepper beef. The texture and flavor are unbeatable! Free salted peanuts too. Note that they are cash/Payconiq only. First time we came here, we didn't know this, but they were very patient with us in finding a way to pay, understanding that we were internationals new to the Belgian system. The second time we came, we also received good service - requests for extra bowls/cups were met quickly, despite there being only one waitress managing all the tables at one point. A previous review mentions an incident with a mother and her child breaking a glass. I was a few tables away and would like to provide some insight. The customers sitting right next to the family brought the incident to the manager's attention and complained, since they had broken glass at their feet and were understandably annoyed. The manager came over to clean up the mess, and the mother had stated that the glass was accidentally broken as her son was playing. The manager, while cleaning the floor, told the mother that she shouldn't be letting her son play there and it had caused an issue for his other customers. He was a bit curt, sure, but did not yell. The mother was upset with his response and left without touching the food on the table nor paying. It was an unlucky situation; the mother and son were in a cramped area with the tables close together, causing the glass to shatter close to other customers. Accidents happen, especially with a child around. But the workers were doing their best to manage a restaurant at 100% capacity, and they serve many English-speaking customers (including this family), despite the fact that English may not be their native language. It may come across as impolite or rude, but understand that it is not a part of the Chinese restaurant cultural expectation to be extremely cheerful as a service worker. Their focus is on being efficient and making the food delicious. Keep this in mind if you're trying to have an authentic experience.
Yes! Superb Chinese food at this rather small but packed restaurant. Noodles are being pulled in front of you. ‘Exotic’ and extremely tasty choices like duck tongues, pig’s ear and duck gizzards are on the menu. The fresher than fresh noodles are delicious. Also: customer service is definitely on point! If you want to eat real chinese food, head over to Bai Wei in Antwerp Chinatown and indulge yourself. Would most certainly recommend!
