Ate the beef stew local cuisine Stoofvlees. One of the best food I had on this trip and this is including bruge. This dish was so delicious I couldn’t stop dipping the fries in the sauce plus UNLIMITED FRIES. 😋

Very nice atmosphere and well made food! Stuff is super friendly and helpful. It is ideal for meat lovers, not so much for vegeterians like myself. Stew is recommended (by the friends who tried and loved it) You can still find some vegeterian options, like pasta and soup of the day.

Fantastic lunch had while visiting Ghent today (3/27/25). We shared the garlic and cream mussels and each enjoyed our own meal. My husband had the croque madame and I had the sausage with peas, carrots and mashed potatoes. All amazing. However it was my daughter’s beef stew (not pictured because she devoured it haha) that completely stole the show. Wow! Highly recommend De Rechters while in Ghent!

Delicious food. The beef stew was sold out, so the attendant (absolutely cordial) suggested me the pork cheeks (her favorite dish :-), that comes with the same dark beer sauce. It was probably even better. Tender, juicy, perfect.Excellent fries and beer. Try to book in advance.

we had the menu steak, very reasonably priced, and truly delicious! the pepper sauce was incredible, and our waitress super sweet. update: after a lot of revisits; i also highly recommend the sole fish & the goat cheese salad!
