We visited in September based on a recommendation from a friend and it was well worth it. We did the six course with wine pairing. Highly recommend if you are visiting Brussels.
✨ La Bonne Chère – Marolles ✨ Hidden in the heart of Brussels’ historic Marolles district, « La Bonne Chère » is one of those rare places where the city’s multicultural soul still speaks through its food. The moment you step inside, the warm, unpretentious atmosphere makes you feel like home. Here, the identity of the place is shaped by a spirit of travel — a journey around the world through flavours, encounters and discoveries that give it a unique and timeless character. 🍽 Cuisine & Flavours The menu is a love letter to the French New Cuisine tradition — generous, elegant, and deeply surprising. Every plate is crafted with precision but without pretension: a perfectly balanced making honor to the simplicity of great ingredients. Seasonal and local products are clearly at the heart of the kitchen, and it shows how much chef Alexandru loved his nativ moldavian grandmother’s vegetable garden. 🥂 Service & Atmosphere The service is friendly, attentive without ever feeling rushed. The team has a genuine charm, as if they’re welcoming you into their own home. The décor blends old Brussels charm with modern touches — warm wood, soft light, and the gentle hum of a room where people are truly enjoying themselves. 🌟 Verdict La Bonne Chère is more than a restaurant: it’s a reminder of why we fall in love with genius chefs art in the first place. Honest, soulful, and impeccably executed. A perfect spot for an unforgettable moment. We were completely impressed by four amazing ingredients: Cèpes d’Ardennes, Rouget normand, wild perdreau and croustiant aux truffes de Alba! Mindblowing… soon, a first (from a long serie) Michelin star will be surely awarded ! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — A timeless Brussels address that lives up to its name.
As soon as we arrived, the friendly staff made us feel welcome. The setting was modern but cozy, with wooden accents and soft lighting. My starter was tomato soup with basil oil — simple, warming, and delicious. For the main, I had steak cooked medium rare with peppercorn sauce, perfectly seared and juicy. My companion’s vegetarian option, roasted vegetables with couscous, was colorful and flavorful. Dessert, a tiramisu with Belgian chocolate shavings, was the highlight. Service was smooth and unhurried, making it a relaxed and memorable dinner.
We ordered the 5 course menu with wine paring and we are more than happy! The food and the service were extra ordinary! Thank you so much for this amazing evening!
I truly cannot believe this restaurant does not have a Michelin star. The menu is a delicious and adventurous blend of flavors and I highly recommend the wine pairing. Everything is expertly prepared. You will not regret choosing this restaurant.
