Food was great. Restaurant has a unique history. The Dumpling I got was massive and delicious. My wife got the pork mash potatoes and oh my oh my were they good! Dessert was delicious too, with the blueberry cake and the Schwarz cake. 10/10 go eat there!!!
The service was excellent. Even on a packed summer Saturday, we were seated immediately and the staff were attentive without rushing us. We ordered food and drinks together and were impressed by the speed; everything arrived in about five minutes, including dessert. We tried the beef goulash with dumplings and the pork shoulder. Both dishes were decent, though the meat was dry. For dessert, the cheesecake was mixed: the filling was nice, but the base was just plain sponge with too much of it, and the mandarin pieces made it overly sweet.
The cafe is up a flight of stairs and has a certain charm to it. Visually, it is quite pretty. It clearly has some history. That said, the interior feels a bit old and dated, and the seating is not especially comfortable. Service was fine. Not unfriendly, but not particularly attentive either. Ordered 2 of their signature cakes: • the chocolate cake • the pavlova Both cakes were enjoyable, but not exceptional. The chocolate cake had good flavour, but only the middle was filled, which left the edges rather dry. The pavlova had a nice meringue base, but there was not enough cream/filling, so it ended up being quite dry as well. The bathroom was unfortunately not clean, which took away from the experience. Most of the other guests seemed to be tourists, and overall it leaned slightly into tourist trap territory - though it is not a bad place by any means. Worth a visit for the history and atmosphere, but probably not somewhere I would return to.
One of Prague’s oldest cafés (since 1902) and definitely worth a visit. It’s often busy, but the queue moves quickly. The blueberry pie and coffee were very good and reasonably priced. Staff were attentive and friendly. Loved the classic interior.
Beautifully decorated with a warm and inviting atmosphere. I tried the blueberry cake, and it was incredibly fresh and delicious. The overall vibe is classy yet relaxed. Most importantly, they offer a very reasonable price menu, which makes it a great spot for both tourists and locals. Highly recommended!
