I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant Bistro Verde in Copenhagen, Denmark. This restaurant is tucked away on a quieter, more pedestrian-friendly street and has a pleasant terrace – definitely the best spot to sit. Inside it looks a bit tighter, but still perfectly fine. The concept is original dishes inspired by traditional recipes, and they pull it off very well. I had a pasta dish with meat, straws, and pepper – a creative mix of flavors that worked beautifully. We also tried an open sandwich with local Norwegian bread, salmon, a tangy cream with cucumber, and a touch of caviar – the bread itself was truly outstanding. For dessert, their reinterpretation of cheesecake with raw cheese was both surprising and worth the stop. Overall, a lovely little restaurant with creative, high-quality cuisine, a charming terrace, and friendly, efficient service. We went for lunch, but it would also be a great choice for dinner. Highly recommended for anyone passing through the area.

We absolutely loved this place. Best plant based food in Copenhagen. Everything we tried was delicious and well presented. The service was great and we probably had 4 different people serving us at different times and they were all great! We tried so many things from the menu and could barely walk afterward, but it was definitely worth it. If you are looking for healthy and pant based food with a bistro vibe this is the place for you.

Absolutely fantastic find in the heart of Copenhagen. Fully vegan restaurant with a great menu. We went three times in a 4 day visit as we found that Copenhagen wasn’t great for vegan options. The staff were very friendly & helpful. Everything we tried was tasty, good portions sizes & well presented. Even if you’re not vegan you’ll love this restaurant.

We enjoyed a lunch here. The service was excellent. We found the menu to be fairly standard vegan fare. That means I have my general criticism of a lot of vegan food: instead of being creative with plants, there are too many “faux” foods. A fake “marbled steak”? Ugh. Just the thought of it is icky. So my spouse ordered a Buddha bowl which was OK, but nothing amazing. I had the tofu skewers which were tasty enough, though one was somewhat overcooked, and the peach salad, which was fine. Some kind of fake cheese. It’s not cheese. We wanted the “cheesecake” for dessert, but they didn’t have it, so we had the tiramisu, which was quite good. I had green tea and my spouse had coffee. Nothing was amazing. I save 5 stars for truly outstanding food. And, in this case, given the prices in Denmark in general, the lunch cost us what a fancy dinner would cost in other cities. (It cost 600 DKK for this lunch - my food consisted of two starter menu items.)

Overall a solid vegan option in Copenhagen. We found ourselves back here many times, and sometimes pleased and at others disappointed. The service was disparate, with some servers being highly attentive while others much less so. Similarly with the food, some dishes were pleasantly seasoned while others were left lacking. Definitely worth coming to eat here but don't have too high expectations.
