Do I dare say? Tourist trap x 1000. It's honestly good food and such a great effort to be something special but if you want "authentic" or "off the beaten path" this is not it. That said, we had a great meal. We waited, as most, with over priced bar drinks. We then got bread, salmon soup, and pancakes. All good, but is this really what Fins are eating? Our waitress was Estonian and she said no. We moved on to Reindeer sausage and meatballs. All delicious, let me not fool you, but again, is this what the locals are eating? We passed on dessert, the food is heavy. We paid 90 euro and we're cooked. Been there done that, post me on Instagram. Try it. But don't expect grandma Finny coming out of the kitchen.
The food is very tasty, you can choose from a different options of traditional Finnish cuisines. It’s better to book a place, otherwise it’s needed to stay in a 15-30m. queue. The service was not really present and I needed to wait some time to order things, but maybe it’s because of the rush on Saturday’s evening.
This gastro bar/restaurant does not come up among the top Finnish, traditional restaurants when you google it. (not sure why) It was recommended by a Finnish friend and we were absolutely satisfied. It’s not a posh restaurant, but the atmosphere, the food and the service were all very nice. We had the salmon soup, it was delicious, then the sautéed reindeer and the pork and beef mixed stew. The place really worth a visit.
If there were a way to give more than 5 stars I would. Atmosphere 10/10, Food 500/10, service 10/10. Highly recommend the salmon dinner with potatoe pancake and mushroom sauce. Such a cool place, reminds us of home!
This restaurant was a great find! A quirky interior, superb food and attentive, friendly service. We shared two starters - fish plate and reindeer - both of which were really interesting and full of flavours. Then a Karelian stew for a main, which was outstanding. And I'm running out of superlatives but the desserts were to die for ... Very highly recommended!!
