This place is a hidden gem in the restaurant scene of Helsinki. It feels like you're stepping into a wonderful small restaurant in Greece. The place is beautiful, atmosphere warm, service super and the food & wines are amazing. The price-quality is really good. I can strongly recommend!! Also, this place might have the coolest restaurant toilet in Helsinki! :D
Gran Delicato is a wonderful Greek restaurant in the center of Helsinki. I went there for an early dinner and was well taken care by the owner of the restaurant. He proposed that I try the fried calamari and I found it to be excellent. He also helped to pair the food with good light Greek red wine. My overall impression of the restaurant is very positive.
I have visited this place a few times and i love it. It is pretty spacious with a unique layout. The food and coffee are excellent and the staff are very nice and friendly. I can finally drink my favourite ice coffee in Helsinki. I totally recommend it and I look forward to going back.
Our last night in Helsinki was absolutely wonderful and eating at Gran Delicato is what made it so memorable. It is very rare when a restaurant makes you feel like you are just right at home. Dimitris was so kind and greeted us with such hospitality. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and explained the origin of each dish to us. The food was absolutely delicious and aromatic. We loved everything and left feeling like we were having dinner with an old friend. Wonderful food with wonderful people! Ευχαριστούμε Δημήτρη! -Samantha & Sophia
Such a fabulous space for such a fabulous wine bar. Our host Dimitri could not have been more helpful and considerate. He talked us through the extensive array of Greek wines he had curated. We (tourists) had yummy olives and a dip, as we already had dinner arranged. Other diners (locals) were getting into delicious looking full meals. Make sure you visit the bathroom!!!! It is carved into the Helsinki bedrock. Dimitri even took the time to send us recommendations for the rest of our stay. This is our favourite and most intimate wine bar we have visited on a month -long European holiday.
