Yesterday we had an anniversary dinner there with my partner and we had a great time! Our host was Mathew (maybe it's written differently) who was a trainee, but he made our dinner something to remember! Often you get "meh" service in Finland, but he was a superb host, friendly, funny and super approachable! The food was super good! We took the three course meal and it was enough. Finnish ingredients with a modern twist of flavours that left us satisfied! The food takes a bit too long to arrive considering that the restaurant was 80% empty, but we were not in a hurry. Recommended for a special dinner :)
Super delicious food - partially finnish style (reindeer, salmon, mushrooms). Excellent service and knowledge of dishes - reflecting to our way of talking and acting. Breakfast has Lapland vibes - best hotel breakfast I have eaten in Finland! Coffee/tea served to the table. Omelette made by a chef for you. I have eaten multiple times in different restaurants of Lapland Hotels (chain) and I have never had bad food or service. Highly recommend if you prefer to have something different than a typical steak & chicken + french fries restaurant. Obviously they also have a meat/vegan burger with fries but the main point is different dishes than you may normally find in a hotel restaurant.
Saivo, located in the Nokia Arena as part of the Lapland Hotel, is a fantastic dining experience. We started with the Kuusenkerkkä GT, a Gin Tonic with spruce tip syrup, which was perfect. The "Amuse Bouche" was an excellent and tasty start to our meal. For starters, we shared a tasting menu with highlights like potato flatbread with cold-smoked salmon, reindeer tartare, and an amazing profiterole with ash and mushroom cream. The profiterole really surprised us with how good it was. For mains, we had the Fish of the Day (whitefish) and the Saivo Burger, both delicious. We also enjoyed some wine with our meal. Dessert was a delight with Cloudberry, caramel sauce, vanilla ice cream, and a selection of lingonberry and vanilla ice creams. The Nordic feel of the atmosphere was perfect, and the staff were helpful and served with a smile. Overall, Saivo is a must-visit for fantastic food and great vibes!
A great mixture of contemporary cooking and old traditions. As a result - taste experience that made me inspired. Super friendly service. Cozy design that is at the same pace as the hotel concept. Desert with the white liquid chocolate cream was especially superb.
Excellent food and service. Dishes were imaginative without being frilly, using local ingredients to their advantage. The reindeer in particular was very nice, with the sauce taking to next level. Special commendation also for a vegetarian dish, which did not feel like an afterthought, but was really rather well executed. Great decor, and the space was also acoustically nice and not an echo chamber as some places seem to be these days. Service was considerate, professional, unintrusive and really quite fast.
