Such a great spot! The Japanese chef really knows how to bring out the best in every ingredient. Everything was super fresh and carefully prepared. The gazpacho was so refreshing and full of flavor, and the duck steak was juicy and perfectly cooked. Loved the wine too — clearly chosen with care. If you’re in Nice and want a relaxed but high-quality French meal, definitely check this place out.
Dinner at l’eau de vie is truly the water of life! This is a must-visit restaurant if you are in Nice. The menu is French with a clever fusion of Japanese, using ingredients like wasabi and yuzu or special cooking techniques to achieve beautifully balanced and subtle flavours. Everything right down to the garnishes, croutons, and ice cream is hand made in the restaurant. The service was beyond excellent - very attentive and articulate, helping us understand the dishes. We had the prix fixe menu which was a fantastic value for the quality of food we received. The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic dinner or a small group of up to eight people (we were a family of five). Don’t miss this hidden gem in Nice!
First visit: One of the best I’ve had in France. Five star. Second visit: Unfortunately, I’ll have to deduct a star because of the service. We didn’t have a reservation and asked if we could walk in, but were met at the door with a curt “no, no, thanks, no.” No greeting, no explanation, just dismissal. It was a different waitress from our first visit, and the attitude felt unnecessary and unwelcoming.
We had such a nice meal at L’Eau de vie. The food was cooked to perfection and the recommended wine was lovely. The service was great, it’s a real hidden gem in Nice and definitely worth a visit. Thank you :)
We had such a wonderful experience in this restaurant. The Chef showcases talent and passion through every single dish, every Entrée would've been worthy of a main dish. The usage of seasonal ingredients for classic French cuisine with just the perfect amount of Japanese influence made every bite a memorable experience. Such an excellent experience should've easily cost twice as much, finding a better value dining experience might be impossible. With such a nice service and excellent craftsmanship from the Chef, I hope to one day return to Nice and come here again.
