KO-ISHI

I am very grateful to my friend who works nearby for recommending KO-ISHI. This tiny hole in the wall seats 15 and I can happily say I snuck in just before the pandemonium of the lunch service. This place would be a gem in Tokyo or Kyoto. The food is tremendous and the staff are fantastic. Speaking of the staff. None are Japanese or even Asian. All locals from Marseille. I don’t know if they trained in Japan or developed their skill here over time. The line is long outside. Be early and get inside. Not a piece of sushi in sight. Just beautiful Japanese food prepared with fire and on the flattop. Lovely!

Favorite restaurant in Marseille!! Amazing food, amazing service!! Must have the cheese takoyaki and the matcha tiramisu !! Thank you for such a great time! Will be back!
