We stopped at this place while in the port for a day from a cruise. I am so glad we did! The food was amazing! The mussels and fries I will continue to think about and my boyfriend got the fresh fish that had a tomato on top cooked with other stuff that was so flavorful!! The wine was delicious. I got a sangria as well that taste good but included too many berries making it hard to drink with a straw. The service was also amazing! So hospitable.
Bouillabaisse was full of bold flavour. It filled with big chunks of fish to get that complex body and texture. The beautiful fish stew embodied the true essence of the sea. 🐟 I also enjoyed the Mussels and Fries. (Formule Moules Frites Maison) The mussels were fresh and tasty, they were cooked perfectly with a soft and tender texture. 🙂 The sailor style in a fragrant sweet white wine broth brought out the natural sweetness of the mussels. 😋
it's definitely a popular spot. I surprisingly enjoyed bouillabaisse even though a lot of people think it's too fishy. goat cheese salad was a hit. cheese was melted, and goat funk was not too strong. grilles sardine wasn't appealing to me as much as aforementioned two dishes.
We ordered the Pâtes aux moules (pasta with mussels), Steak de thon snack (seared tuna steak), and a bouillabaisse. The mussels were fresh, the tuna steak (cooked medium) was delicious, and the sauce was just perfect. The risotto served with the tuna was creamy and paired wonderfully with the steak. The bouillabaisse was the best we've had in Marseille—generous in portion and packed with fresh seafood and other ingredients. You can really tell everything was fresh, like the fish had just been caught. The waiter was very polite and attentive; he even closed the tent just 10 seconds after it started to rain! Highly recommended—definitely give this restaurant a try!
Great place with great view on the Old Port and the cathedral. We chose the bouillabaisse from Fonfon, which is a cheaper version with only 4 fishes instead of 7. It was delicious! In the real restaurant where the recipe comes from, this dish is very expensive, so the one in La Cigale is a great alternative. Desserts are good too, all homemade.
