Restaurant Setzkasten Düsseldorf

I had an excellent meal and experience at Setzkasten. I was very impressed by the attention to detail and stories behind each dish. I sat at the Chefs table and was greeted with open arms and countless conversations from the head chef. I very much enjoyed my meal and would recommend Setzkasten to anyone traveling to Dusseldorf. I truly see why they received a Michelin star. Excellent dining experience!

In my opinion, the gourmet restaurant exceeds expectations in key respects: the taste and level of the food were outstanding, the same applies to the wine and I also thought the price was outstanding. As for the food, I would like to highlight the amuses, which I thought were outstanding, the outstanding main course of suckling pig and the equally outstanding confiserie. As for the wines, I particularly enjoyed an outstanding (white) Châteauneuf-du-Pape and an outstanding champagne (with dessert). All in all, once again a very convincing performance. This place has beaten my expectations and has provided a better fine dining experience compared to many Michelin stared restaurants I have been to in the past. The dishes have such a perfect mixture of taste and texture, it makes you wonder why it doesn’t have a star. You might find it strange that it’s located in the basement of a high end supermarket, don’t let that stop you from making a reservation. You won’t regret it.

We had an absolutely wonderful meal here at Setzkasten for our anniversary! The degustation was well planned and executed in terms of flavour, technique and inventiveness. And the varying textures in each dish were so satisfying. Two of the dishes were a tad too salty for my liking, but still so enjoyable and were quickly balanced by the following dishes. Service slowed down a little at the end, but we weren't so bothered by that. Our server Frank was so lovely, professional and thoughtful! Thanks to him and the rest of the team at Setzkasten we had a beautiful time! Perfect for date nights and special occasions. P.S. The snacks are to die for!

We were passing the restaurant so many times because it’s inside of one of the most fancy EDEKAs in the regions, and finally had a chance to explore it. The dinner took around 4 hours, but the time flied so quickly. The dishes were amazing (each and every of them), the wine pairing was on point and complemented food perfectly. We also enjoyed the service: it’s attentive and polite, and the staff even made us laugh a few times :) Such a gem inside of a supermarket!
