Café Buur in Cologne absolutely lived up to its reputation as one of the trendiest brunch spots in the city! We tried several dishes, and every plate looked like a work of art. The vanilla ice cream pancake was indulgent and delicious, with the rich ice cream slowly melting over a perfectly cooked pancake, fresh strawberries, and a drizzle of chocolate. The scrambled egg brioche sandwich was fluffy and flavorful, topped with a slightly spicy sauce and fresh herbs — a simple but satisfying combination. The Eggs Benedict were fantastic too: poached eggs with silky hollandaise sauce on toasted English muffins, served with beautifully sliced avocado and pickled vegetables for a fresh touch. The crispy fish bao buns were a surprise highlight — light, fluffy bao filled with crunchy fried fish and a creamy dressing, absolutely bursting with flavor. And of course, we paired everything with their smooth coffees, which came with a little sweet bite on the side — a nice, thoughtful detail that made the experience even better. Despite how busy the café was, the service was friendly and efficient. It’s clear that Café Buur takes both its food and vibe seriously, making it the perfect place for an unforgettable brunch. Highly recommend booking ahead if you want to avoid waiting — it’s popular for good reason! I’ll definitely be coming back to try even more from their exciting menu.
After hearing a lot about this cafe, we finally decided to try it out… as mentioned in the other reviews due to it’s popularity the wait times are long and if you happen to go there on a weekend during brunch times be prepared to wait for sometime. We waited for around 15-20 mins for a table on a Saturday afternoon. The menu is very comprehensive with loads of vegetarian & vegan options. I ordered Shakshuka with feta and a oat vanilla matcha latte, my friends ordered the halli galli and spinach scrambled eggs. We were very happy with the taste, presentation and portion of the food. It was just right for one person. Because of the number of people there it a took a while to get our food but not too long. The ambiance and decor was tasteful, trendy and youthful. We had a nice time.
I went in without any expectations and went out with the sad realization that I can’t visit Buur every day, cause I don’t live in Köln :( I was very inspired by the Persian egg bread and I’m definitely gonna experiment using dates on savory sandwiches. This meal was absolutely mind-blowingly fantastic?!? Even though everything on the menu looks great, you should get the Persian egg bread, TRuST Me!!!! The coffee here was also really good and delicious. The only reason that I don’t give it five stars is because it’s pretty big and crowded inside. The tables felt very close together. But don’t let that stop you, this place is amazing!
Food here is great. I googled beat Mac and cheese in Cologne and this place came up. Took a tram to get there specifically and it did not disappoint. Lovely sitting outside on the busy street, staff friendly and quick, food was wonderful. Max and cheese with bacon hit the spot with just a hint of spice and the bacon crisped to perfection. Recommended.
I was really looking forward to trying this café for brunch after hearing so many good things and seeing the long lines. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t quite live up to the hype. The pancakes I ordered were burnt, which was disappointing. However, my friend enjoyed their berry bowl, and our drinks were good. Overall, I think there’s room for improvement, and I hope the food quality matches the reputation next time.
