We ended up coming here twice within a single week – simply because the whole experience hit the mark. The service is super friendly and impressively quick. The atmosphere is classically Bavarian, exactly what you’d hope for when dining in the heart of the city. The food? Solid. Generous portions, authentic flavors, and genuinely good beer. On our second visit, we had the veal cream goulash and the Bavarian burrata with tomato gnocchi – both absolutely delicious. The first time, we tried the Käsespätzle (soft egg noodles with melted cheese and fried onions), which were a full-on comfort food win. We also shared the tasting platter with smoked salmon, roast beef, Bavarian cold cuts, vegetables, and spreads served with hearty sourdough bread. Definitely recommended.
We stopped in here on a vacation to Bavaria. The food was incredible! Genuinely the best German food we ate on our trip. The Weiner Schnitzel was excellently cooked. The breading was light and the meat was tender and juicy. Thee Käse Spätzle was perfect. Not at all overpowered by the cheese and texture of the noodles was perfect. We also had the Sauerbraten which was delicious and moist. The polenta it was served with was perfect. Great beer, great food. Would definitely go back!
Walked in at 6pm and was surprised to find every seat in the place taken. A very popular place. The atmosphere is great if you are looking for a traditional Bavarian restaurant. Ended up taking seats at the bar. The food was very good and the prices were not too bad. The service staff was very friendly.
I’ve not had a delicious plate of pork schnitzel until coming to this restaurant. The lager was incredibly smooth and refreshing to drink. The service staff were friendly (and spoke good English). Would definitely come back again.
I visited Wirtshaus Zum Straubinger to try Bavarian food, and while the main courses were quite good, there were a few areas that could be improved. For starters, I had the Petersilienwurzel-Rahmsuppe, which was supposed to be parsley root creamy soup, but it tasted more like plain cream—heavy and without any acidity to balance it, like a slice of lemon or something similar. The texture was also off; it was broken and not smooth as expected. Additionally, the cubes of salmon in the soup were cold, almost as if they were added directly from the fridge, and I found a few small fish bones in each cube, which was a bit off-putting. As for the main course, I tried the 1/2 Haxe vom Bayrischen Landschwein and Straubi Schnitzel, both of which were delicious. The Kartoffel-Rucola-Salat I had with my meal was definitely the highlight, and by far my favorite dish at the restaurant. The ambiance was nice, and the staff was alright, though I felt there was room for a bit more attentiveness. Overall, a decent experience with some room for improvement in the appetizers, but the main courses and salad were enjoyable.
