We had the house sausage plate and the potato salad and their beer which was amazing all of it. Great music great atmosphere good times. Delicious food. The sauerkraut was just lightly sweet and quite amazing. Everything tasted fresh clean. So not gross like most American food back home.
Loved the busy atmosphere, the hustle of the staff members, the lively conversations, and the smiles of everyone around! The food was okay and the beer was good.. Of course, there are only two choices of beer, and they generally come in large quantity, so it's hard to be wrong with that!
Pure Bavarian energy; communal tables packed with strangers who become friends over a liter of beer, a live band that keeps the hall echoing with brass and cheer, and an atmosphere that feels more like a living tradition than just a restaurant. The food holds its own against the festivity: crisp pork knuckle with rich gravy, hearty sausages with sauerkraut, and sweet Kaiserschmarrn to finish it all off. Between the vaulted painted ceilings, the music, and the clinking steins, it’s not just dinner—it’s Munich at its most alive.
Honestly worth going as a traveller. It has live music, bustling atmosphere and great character. It is touristy, but worth going to check out at least once. We sat in the main ground level grab-your-own seating area near the back, no need to wait - just find a spot and sit. We grabbed the standard pork knuckle with dumpling and beer, enjoyed some music, and mix of visitors. The food was a bit salty but reasonable with beer, and it was more for the communal festive atmosphere. We were here just before Oktoberfest, so the surrounding shops were already ramping up to it, and everyone was lively.
We came here 7 years ago. The food quality is always good. Whenever we are in Munich, this is the only restaurant we visit. So we have been here 5 or 6 times. Atmosphere and food quality are always good. Unfortunately, the service quality declined as years passed. This waiter forced us to pay 20% tips and say this is a must. We lived in Europe and I am sure this is a not true. We decline paying tips. He dropped and banged the card machine in front of us. It’s very shocking, disrespect and impolite. So if anyone in this restaurant see him here, just be careful.
