Windmill Restaurant Vasilikos

Kind and fast staff. Food was delicious. It is a good place with a nice view. We got free grapes at the end. 😍

Ordered a starter (eggplant dip) which was good and a souvlaki and lamb on the spit for mains. Souvlaki was good but the lamb!, it consisted of bones with a bit of meat and the main ‘piece’ (see picture) was just bone! It looked like someone’s leftover but I wanted to think it was just a bone left after hacking off the meat at the spit. The by the time I got to eating the main the waiters were no longer around since we were on the upper level. Tried to make the best of it and thankfully my wife gave me some meat from her souvlaki. But I was very disappointed with the lamb and after about 45min with no waiter in sight or who paid attention, we decided to leave. I asked for the manager who refused to accept my complaint. He said it was too late to complain and I should have done so when I got the food. Maybe I should have but as I said no waiters around. Anyway he was very rude and he and the waiter did their best to embarrass me by saying I was not being honest and then that since I’m not Greek so I don’t know how to eat lamb. What cheek. Waiter offered not to charge me for the lamb and I told him that I wasn’t after a refund but some understanding. The refund consisted of charging me the full amount on my card and placing the cash amount of my main on the counter. We left deeply disappointed more by the atrocious ‘customer service’ than the abysmal food. This place never heard of the phrase ‘the customer is always right’.

Fantastic location: the restaurant has a beautiful sea view. Delicious cuisine: we enjoyed traditional Greek dishes, all beautifully presented. Prices: in line with the average in Zante. Helpful and quick staff: they welcome you with professionalism and friendliness. I’ve been to this restaurant three times, and it has always lived up to expectations. I highly recommend it, and if I come back to Zante, I’ll definitely return to this restaurant.

We stopped here to enjoy the lovely views, which are lovely and there was a nice breeze on what was a very hot evening. There is ample parking. The service was very good and the food was absolutely delicious. The rice is so tasty, I'm not sure what ingredients they use but it's lovely. The roasted pork belly and chicken souvlaki was brilliant. The prices are slightly higher than in the main resorts but for the quality of the food it's worth the extra. They give complimentary watermelon 🍉 at the end of the meal, which is a nice touch.

We visited on a National Public Holiday and are delighted that we chose to share our celebration at the Windmill Restaurant Zakynthos. The location is truly beautiful. Menu includes traditional and modern Greek Cuisine that appreciates the best of local ingredients and recipes and makes space for special dishes such as the "king prawn orzetto" that is made with a bisque that matches any I have tasted! Really exceptional. Fresh salads prettily presented. Grilled chicken fillet with lemon sauce was mouth wateringly delicious! Plenty of local beer and wine choices and soft drinks on the drinks menu. A friendly fine dining experience with lovely service. We completely enjoyed our visit and our meal together here. Highly recommend for the food, service and the views.
