We came here last year while visiting in Rome, and had to come back on our trip this year. Make a reservation in advance, if you get a seat near the deli counter you can watch them prepare the meat/ cheese plates and it’s amazing! The best prosciutto I’ve ever had. Service is amazing. 10/10 experience every time!
The cacio e Pepe is too creamy. It used to be good 3 years ago but lost a step. The succulent pig was amazing and the bread was fine. If I went back I’d get something else. It’s not a bad place but lost the 5 star for me due to that dish. For the hype it should bang. Looks better than it tastes
Incredible carbonara and tagliatelle, and perhaps even more notable, truly wonderful service. We did not order any antipasto to save room for the main course, and they brought us, gratis, a little cheese and pesto to try. We were too full after dinner to order dessert, and again, they brought us some biscuits and chocolate sauce on the house. Stunning hospitality and customer service on top of stunning food, at very reasonable prices. Also, the wine they recommended was fantastic!
We didn’t have a reservation but decided to try our luck. At the entrance, a woman (looked like a hostess manager) immediately told us there were no tables. Fine, we asked if we could wait — a waiter suggested we stand by for 20 minutes in case someone didn’t show up. We agreed and waited. My husband, who doesn’t speak English, simply said: *“my friend, please, let us in, there are empty tables.”* She suddenly got angry, saying “this is not funny,” that she had been “working all night,” and accused us of being “uncultured” just because we spoke another language. She even threatened to call security. It was only 19:20 and there were free tables, but she insisted “everyone is coming” and literally started closing the door in front of us. I tried to ask how to make a reservation for another day, but she ignored me and kept acting aggressively. Honestly, I don’t understand why someone works in hospitality if it’s so clear she dislikes guests. This is not a service-oriented approach. A restaurant of this reputation should not tolerate staff who treat guests with such contempt. The food may be famous, but no level of cuisine justifies being humiliated at the door. We will never return.
Off the beaten path this hidden gem was fantastic.we only went to the restaurant not the hotel. It is best if you have reservations as they sit in two shifts for dinner. My husband had the gnocchi in a tomato based sauce. The gnocchi was so light, the best I’d ever tasted. I was a bit jealous. The four cheese pasta was also fantastic and paired nicely with a glass of the local wine. The service was fantastic. Definitely would go back.
