First of all, the food here is great, absolutely worth a visit - if I wasn't staying in a hotel I would've bought some pasta to bring home for the next day. I visited on a Sunday evening, around 18:00, and the line was as long as always outside the restaurant. I had read the previous reviews so I knew it was worth it. Google Maps said the wait would be around 15 minutes so I lined up - it turned out to be more like 30-40 minutes. So be prepared, it might be a long wait before you can get your seat for dinner! I was dining alone and was seated at the big 16 person table in the middle of the restaurant. That's not a problem as such, unfortunately I was seated with 2 other people and a 13 person big party. It wasn't the best situation, but it wasn't as bad as feared. The noise level in the restaurant, in general, was quite high, at time almost deafening. Ordering is done by writing on a pad what you want, a different approach than usual but it works fine I guess. It was difficult to get the attention of the waiters for ordering. Food was delivered quickly, it was tasty and dinner was, overall, very good. You pay at the register on your way out, very easy. Overall, I will recommend Sfoglia Rina but be prepared for the (potential) downsides.
We only had one day in Bologna so we had to be selective with our meals. Read so many positive reviews, and can confirm this place is indeed delicious! After walking by around 2pm and seeing a short line, we came back around 5-6pm for an early dinner. There was a couple parties ahead of us in line, but it moved very quickly. We were seated on about 10-15 minutes. We couldn’t resist ordered 3 pasta dishes between the two of us after seeing the menu. We had the risotto, lasagna, and gnocchi. Each came as a set with a side of bread and pumpkin/feta. All three of them were AMAZING, the lasagna is best I’ve ever had. We weren’t able to finish all our food, they provided boxes (and utensils and bag, which we really appreciated!) to take home.
First of all the cappelli soura stracchino was absolutely delicious and the best I have ever eaten. Amazing and highly recommended. The risotto carcio was ok/good. My wife is Italian so possibly the comparison is not fair. The artichoke hearts were good and tender, however the outer leaves were hard and chewy. I like more flavor. The service was somewhat abrupt but efficient. Meal delivery was fast. Good value for money!!! Lots of people being served. Very busy.
We heard about this place after seeing a couple of reviews on Youtube and thought to give this a try. We were lucky to arrive at the restaurant in the early evening when there was only two groups of people ahead of us, but the inside was packed, owing to the restaurant's popularity, and we had to sit at a large table with other diners. You write what you want on paper and pass it to the waiters. Still water and a roll of bread are inclusive of your order so there's no need to separately order those. Our meals tasted wholesome and delicious, especially the spaghetti ragu (which is Bologna's signature pasta)! We also recommend their dessert, which was like a citrus cake with figs on top, very refreshing!
Don't be fooled by the Google photos taken from outside: when you reach this place, there will probably be a waiting queue outside... But, please be patient, stand there and wait as the food is 100% worth waiting for! The pasta is fresh and delicious! We had Tigelle with cold cuts and cheese, Tortellini with Parmigiano Reggiano and Lasagna Bolognese (respective photos). Together with 2 glasses of wine, the price was 51€. It is not expensive if you consider the taste and the freshness as well as the atmosphere, the service and the decoration. The staff was polite, friendly and very helpful. The decoration is inspiring, eg one amusing detail was that the fork and the knife were caught together with a piece of dried pasta! It is a bit crowded but it is to be expected as the quality is very good. To sum up, a pasta restaurant that someone must visit while in Bologna. UPDATE: We visited it a second time so here are the photos of the respective dishes (Tagliatelle Ragout and Gramigna with sausage ragout).
