Grade A+ (97): MUST TRY! We were there 6 years ago since I live in the USA. But I keep thinking I must go back. If you're coming to Cinque Terre, you have to come to La Spezia and try Nana's. We came to La Spezia for 2 days to go to Cinqueterre. We just passed by, saw and decided to go in for late lunch. OMG! This was the best Strip Loin steak (They call it Controfileto or Sirloin) I can say the best I've had. This steak is very hard to make, it always gets hard or stays raw, Chef Gianluca Nana had that magic touch. We came back that night and then again the next evening and had the Chianina Fiorentina (Porterhouse cut) just Amazing. Taste, texture and look, perfect. Other things we tried: The Burger, the Ribeye & Filet mignon all excellent. Nana's Lasagna was a good starter along with the tono, and the FRITES (French fries) out of this world. All those people complaining about the wait being long should just go to McDonald's. A good steak takes time. Dining experience is not 20 minutes. I just love this place.
La Spezia gets passed by as another port access to other nearby more popular cities of Italy but it has gems to discover. Nana Meat and Wine is one them. Situated nearby plaza and the La Spezia Centrale, it’s primed to be noticed. It has a beautiful patio outside but inside is very elegant and gives you that comfortable feeling of opulence. Tastefully decorated and everything has a touch of class on it, including the access to the washroom which neatly tucked behind, it doesn’t announce itself to be a washroom. And the food, whatever you order, you’ll be catered to by servers, who as busy as they are, don’t mind being asked to do a bit outside their comfort. Love the steak, whether, it’s Chianina or Fassona, you’ll be delighted. Try it when you’re in La Spezia, it’s a beautiful experience.
Excellent, high-quality meat with a wide variety of cuts to choose from — every bite was tender and flavorful. The selection of prestigious wines perfectly complemented the meal. The ambiance was elegant yet welcoming, and the service was attentive and professional. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates fine dining and premium ingredients.
After a long day of hiking through Cinque Terre, we decided to try our luck in La Spezia – and stumbled upon the wonderful spot Nana Meats & Wine. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed and could choose our own table. My wife and I ordered a glass of wine and were presented with two excellent options to pair with our meat choices. I went for the dry-aged cut, while my wife and son shared a perfectly cooked 500g tenderloin. What really stood out was the attention to detail: when the wines arrived, we were first offered a tasting in separate glasses before receiving the full pour in a fresh one – only after our approval. Before the meat was prepared, the cuts were brought to our table for us to see exactly what would be cooked – a great touch. I have to say, both dishes were full of flavour, perfectly cooked, and among the best meals I've had in a long time. During dinner, the staff checked in to see if everything was to our liking, and the overall warmth and personal attention made this experience truly special.
I had such a great night with my family, eating steak and drinking wine! The staff were all super friendly and nice. Nana Meat & Wine's Dry Aged Fillet steak and Sirloin were so juicy and tender. We got medium Dry age, and it was cooked perfectly. The pulled Pork Burger wasn't bad either, lots of pork, though the bread was a little dry. Still good though. The smoked mashed potatoes were delicious, and I also recommend the grilled vegetables as a side. Definitely recommend this steakhouse with wine!
