We went there for lunch. The food was truly amazing and prices more than reasonable. The service was particularly outstanding, everyone was very kind.
Dinner at Agriristoro Maccari was a true culinary journey through Tuscan flavors with a modern, innovative twist. The chef works with many ingredients from their own farm as well as the finest local products — with saffron taking center stage throughout the menu. The soft-boiled egg with pecorino cream was rich and perfectly balanced, while the veal cheeks were tender and full of flavor. The biggest surprises of the evening were the saffron gelato and the basil panna cotta — unexpected yet absolutely delightful combinations that left a lasting impression. Served in a beautifully arranged setting, every dish felt thoughtful, creative, and deeply connected to the region. A must-visit in Montalcino for anyone looking to experience tradition reimagined.
Just wow! Such nice people / family, and the food is very special. Locally sourced or self-produced products and great taste combinations by the chef. If you are near montalcino, don’t miss this and go for the basil pannacotta!
Wonderful food, with fresh and tasty ingredients. The environment is very charming and romantic. The service was also spectacular. In summary, this is an awesome experience to truly live the Tuscany.
We just got out from the restaurant. Our waiter, a young man in his early 20s… wasn’t quite what you’d refer to as “ the sharpest tool in the shed”. We had to remind him to bring us wine 3 times, we asked for Parmesan for the pasta a handful of times (it never arrived), he got our order wrong and he still wanted to have the final word.. in Italian “ salumi” means “cured meats”… MEATS… he brought us a whole plate of cheese and told us that that’s what we had ordered. We waited a business day for the bill… and those are just a few things that have occurred during our 2 hour hungry stay. All in all, I reckon it’s a family business, and if that’s the case it’s genuinely worth giving the restaurant a try, the food was good… but unless today was this young man’s first day on the clock, it was really, extremely, unprofessional and rather insulting.
