Gattavecchi Winery

There's a lot of competition in Montepulciano for excellent places to eat and drink but this place is the winner of them all. Incredible food, impeccable (and very family feel) service from everyone. Their wines are excellent too. The pici with duck and also pici with wild boar were particular highlights. Save room for the Pecorino pudding. I never score my food higher than a 9/10 but my Pici with duck was my first ever 10/10 Also to note that ALL pasta dishes are available with hand-made gluten free pasta. My dad is GF and he's never been able to get anything like what he could here, it's like actual fresh pasta. Amazing If you come to Montepulciano, please come here.

We went back for lunch the day after a delicious dinner and they were hosting a huge group lunch for a group of locals but were kind enough to still make room for us and serve us quickly. We had the experience of "Supper in the cellar". It was very special, highly recommend it! We got 4x wines and 1x sweet wine for desert. We got a really nice platter with cheese and dry meat as a starter. First course was picci with meat and main course we had boar ragu. For deserts cantuccini and pudding. All wines matched very well the dishes. The wines from this winery are really good.

Really nice place, went at the end of March and it wasn’t busy at all. Got a bottle of wine for 16€ and was great. Pastas were all delicious - wild boar, duck, lasagne, all good! Really relaxed atmosphere, great service, free wifi. Would definitely recommend!

We spent two weeks in Italy and ate at some great restaurants and Gattavecchi Winery was my favorite. Loved the food, the service, the atmosphere. Get the steak and order the house wine and request a tour of their underground wine cellar. I love this place!
