Osteria all'Ombra

Found this gem by accident. Fancied a glass of wine and stayed for the night. 5 star all the way. Can't fault it. I'd recommend a bottle of wine watch the world go by followed by a bowl of the barley soup. For me this is the highlight of the lake. Not just Riva. Round 2. Went back 2 days later cause I couldn't get the beef goulash out of my head. Beef goulash served with polenta. I wasn't disappointed. The only way I could of been better is if it was served with Italian new potatoes. I didn't have the heart to make this suggestion to Giuseppe's grandmother. She seems a very proud woman. 5 star experience all the way Quando roma......

Super delicious food, great wine & fantastic people.

Good service. I loved the grated snails. The selection of meat and cheese as well as the burrata were very good. However, the truffle added on top of the burrata for an extra charge was a disappointment. It had no flavour at all. The chef then explained that it’s the summer truffle, which by nature doesn’t have the exquisite flavour of truffle. That I can understand, but I don’t understand why you would sell something that doesn’t add any value to the dish. To me it indicates a lack of respect for customers.

Amazing place with really good food and wines. It was a really enjoyable evening. The owner was really enthusiastic and took his time to talk to us and explain the food and the wines.
