Another great discovery in Siena. Amazing Bistecca Fiorentina and pasta. Had one of the best Rosso de Montalcino there for a very good price. Definitely recommend knowing them (and, of course, make a reservation first).
We managed to walk in to this lovely restaurant right as it opened for lunch, after doing some research on a good place to dine for our short day trip to Siena and receiving a recommendation from a local. I am so glad we chose this place for our one meal in Siena! I love risotto so I was quite pleased with the quality and taste of my dish. My husband got the soup which was like a “French onions” and we split two of the cheese appetizers with our other two dining companions - the fried pecorino and the mozzarella balls. All of these dishes tasted incredible. We also got the cannellini beans and these were the BEST I tried in Tuscany during our time there. I also got a glass of Chianti, which I believe was only €4. It was a bit rainy so we were pleased to sit inside. Lovely restaurant and atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly friendly. We ended our meal with espresso, which was nice. If you are in Siena, this is a must-try.
The food was great. We reserved a table because the place gets full for lunch seating. We ordered the risotto, fried mozzarella, pici pork ragu pasta, and the grilled pork. Everything was really good. The service was fast and the servers were friendly. Loved it!
We went at opening for lunch and the place filled up in 30mins so go early if you want to grab a seat quick. I loved the pork ragu!! It got me thinking even days after. The beef tartare was alright. Onion soup is good too.
The food was good overall. We started with the caprese salad, which was fine but nothing special. The torretta di melanzane was really tasty, and the vegetable soufflé (not sure of the exact Italian name) had great flavor. We also tried the lasagna, which was very good. As a nice touch, they bring a basket of bread at the beginning, and we ordered a bottle of wine – prices across the menu were very reasonable. For dessert, the tiramisu was a bit disappointing since it barely tasted of coffee (the ladyfingers didn’t seem soaked), and the apple strudel was just average – more dough than apple flavor. The setting is nice, but if you sit outside, be prepared for traffic and some noise as cars constantly pass by. Also, fun fact: the street is slightly slanted, and since I was sitting with my back facing “downhill,” I ended up doing some core work the whole meal to keep from sliding back. A workout and lunch in one! 😅
