Totally recommended! Delicious traditional food and variety of wine. The staff is super nice, particularly Ricardo who explained the traditional dishes to me and gave great recommendations. Definitely will come back!

Excellent evening in busy spot. German beers, lovely warm ham & horseradish, jota soup fabulous and steak cooked to perfection. All in lovely and staff very welcoming helping me understanding menu went back the next night after poor degustation menu elsewhere. Staff excellent and calamari to go super. Worth six stars

Come to Novo Foraperfora for traditional Trieste dishes that benefit from Austro-Hungarian, Istrian, and Italian influences. The staff is very friendly and you should ask them to help you sample the cuisine. We started with the meat & cheese platter of local ham, speck, salamis, and four cheeses and the local soup called Jota, a sauerkraut, smoked pork, and potato soup. For all you fans of Alsatian Choucroute Garnie, Jota is like a very good version of that dish - you need to try it, I loved it. Our mains were roast pork and cevapcici (chopped meats shaped into cylinders and grilled). Both mains were a little dry, our only criticism of the night. We shared a dessert of two large gnocchi stuffed with plum jam and set in a sweet cinnamon fruit sauce - very tasty. They have German beers on tap, but we opted for a local red wine from Friuli that was very good. Get them to recommend something you have not had before, there's a pretty wide selection for a small place. The atmosphere is like a small German beer hall - very warm and cozy. The staff is also warm and friendly and eager to introduce you to something new. You'll have a great time.

Short menu of typical Trieste cuisine. Really tasty and amazing, friendly waitstaff. Our server was very enthusiastic that we were open to trying some new things. Sardoni and gnocchi goulash were both very good. I don't usually eat pork, but the warm ham appetizer is worth it for the mustard and horseradish alone.

I don't know why we've never been there before! It really was a great find. Great food, great portions, delicious gnocchi di susine! I will be advertising the place for some time. It's also a great alternative for people who would like to stay away from the fuss in the centre. Btw the apple & kren sauce is yum!!
