Came here for risotto on recommendation by a local and it did not disappoint. Delicate flavors and perfectly cooked, this was just what we needed for lunch on a cold day. The ambiance was also very agreeable and made for a good spot to people watch in front of Campo San Aponal. I would absolutely return.
The location, food and drinks were incredible! Chilly few days in Venice and they had great heaters on the patio. Great bourbon selection!! Emmanuel was a stellar server! Highly recommend the Beef Picanha! Really good! Go to this place!!!
Absolutely fantastic experience! The food at Hostaria Sant’Aponal was incredible—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Drinks were just as great, and the atmosphere made for a perfect Venetian evening. The service was warm and genuine, especially the funny bearded server who kept us laughing all night. Can’t recommend this place enough! Make sure to place reservations for no wait.
We’d seen this place a couple of times and thought “why not?” Got a table quickly (it was around 6pm) although it was quite busy. We sat for more than 10 minutes with no drink and then were asked if we were ready, so ordered drinks and meals together. Limited wine menu - red and white only, although I think there was a Prosecco. A few tasty looking cocktails. I had the carbonara which I would give 8/10 (good flavour, pasta nicely cooked), my husband had the lasagne which he said was 7/10. Two meals and two wines cost around €55. Would we go back? For the food yes and a quick bite, maybe not the service or atmosphere as a place to linger, although the music choice was pretty good.
We had just one afternoon in Venice and two meals planned, a tight schedule, but if you’re like us and only have time for one sit-down lunch or dinner, make it this place. With a small, focused pasta menu, we ended up ordering three of the dishes, plus one gluten-free option, and were pleasantly surprised by the experience. The presentation was thoughtful and elegant (though we’ll admit, the duck dish wasn’t exactly the prettiest on the table). But what it may have lacked in looks, it more than made up for in flavor. Every bite was packed with richness, and the pasta itself was perfectly cooked, clearly made with care. The staff struck a wonderful balance between warm, personal service and knowledgeable guidance through the menu. We felt welcomed and well taken care of without it ever feeling too much. Price-wise, it wasn’t a budget meal, but for the quality we received, it was more than fair and we’d gladly make again. We’ll definitely be coming back.
