We were spending a day in Verona and wanted to have a nice Italian dinner in the evening. Then we found this osteria on maps and we were immediately hooked by this restaurant. The food and the service exceeded every expectation. We had dinner, wine and tiramisu for a really good price. We spend the whole evening playing cards here so if you want to grasp the Italian cuisine combined with the ambiance we would definitely recommend coming here. There is limited space inside to eat so I would recommend reserving.
What a hidden gem! I came to La Vela without any expectations at all and I left the place extremely surprised! We had bigoli as primi (donkey and duck) and they were amazing. It felt like the food an old nonna would make to her family on sundays, it hugs you, it’s tasty, simple, but extremely well prepared. Perfect! For second we shared the polenta with horse meat and, once again, an amazing dish! Very tasty, with the polenta cooked on the right form, not soggy, nor dry, just correct! The horse meat is extremely tasty. The service is warm and welcoming! They make you feel like you’re at their home. It’s a simple place, with traditional local dishes made perfectly and warm service. If you’re in Verona, just go!
I really cannot recommend this little gem enough. We stumbled upon it by accident and we did not regret it. It's quite small and looks a bit dated. But the food more than made up for it. We shared polenta with Gorgonzola and a mixed platter with meat cold cuts. It was really good. The star of the meal was the risotto Amarone though. Hardy and flavorful and the portions are generous. This is where you get authentic Veronese cooking, not the tourist traps. The people working there were truly wonderful and welcoming. If we come back to Verona, we know where our first food stop will be.
La Vela is truly a hidden gem! The owner Tizziano is welcoming and very friendly, the dishes are delicious and prices are fair.
Wonderful, tiny Osteria in Central Verona. It has only 4 tables inside, and 2 outside on a street (mind you, cars traverse this tiny road too). The owners are gracious, friendly, speak fluent English, and treat you like you are arriving home for food! The menu is limited, however there is great variety for everyone. They have a full bar, and the prices are great. You can pay with card or cash without any problems. The food is DELICIOUS!
