If you're heading to Mamma Pizza in Oslo, expect a lively, Italian-inspired vibe with cozy seating and a casual atmosphere. The place can get a bit noisy and busy, especially during peak times, but that buzz adds to the charm. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, though service can sometimes be a little slow when the place is packed. Lighting is warm and inviting, making it a great spot for relaxed dinners with friends or casual date nights. The food really shines here—people rave about the authentic Neapolitan-style pizzas like the tartufo (truffle) pizza, praised for its perfect crust and balanced flavors, and unique options like the pistachio pizza. Pastas, such as the rich ragu and carbonara, also get high marks for being hearty and well-prepared, often compared to homemade Italian cooking. Ingredients are fresh and high-quality, and dishes come in satisfying portions with appealing, rustic presentation. Avoid any dishes with questionable pre-prepared ingredients, but overall, the menu is strong. Pricing is mid-range for Oslo, offering good value given the quality. Booking ahead is recommended, especially on weekends, as waits can be long. It’s a solid choice for couples, groups of friends, or anyone craving genuine Italian flavors in a vibrant setting. The restaurant’s popularity keeps growing, fueled by social media buzz around their standout pizzas and a loyal local following. The interior is casual yet warm, featuring Sicilian-inspired decor and soft jazz that adds charm without being overpowering. It can get a bit noisy and busy, especially at peak hours, but the friendly, helpful staff make the experience smooth and welcoming. Seating includes a bar area, which is handy for walk-ins, though reservations are recommended to avoid waits, particularly on weekends[1][3]. The real draw here is the food. Mamma Pizza nails classic Neapolitan-style pizzas with perfectly cooked crusts—one standout is the pistachio pizza, praised for its unique flavor and great texture. Their pasta, like seafood pasta and carbonara, is also a hit, made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Portions are satisfying without being oversized, and presentation is rustic but appealing. Gluten-free options are available but be cautious if you have celiac due to shared ovens[5]. Desserts receive high marks as well, rounding out a solid meal[2][3]. Pricing fits the mid-range Oslo scene, delivering good value for the quality. Expect to pay a bit more than average for pizza in Norway, but it’s worth it for authentic flavors. Delicious Mamma Pizza in Oslo The pizza taste excellent! Must try if you are in Oslo!! The staff Syver gave superb customer service with quick arrangements. Bea was marvellously attentive to our food order. Thomas—the friendly and quick-witted bartender! Overall, the whole team delivered excellent service. Highly recommended!
This place is super busy (for good reason) and doesn’t appear to take reservations. Dining solo and was happy to accept a seat at the bar with no wait. Until I sat at the bar - really uncomfortable and not built for seating. Asked for a table instead, and was happily accommodated with a bit of a wait. Had the Pizza Diavola. Best pizza I’ve had in a very long time. Service was spot on, quick and friendly. Just a cute place with great food. Planning on bringing a group later this week before we leave Oslo.
We were visiting Oslo for 2 days and luckily found this Italian restaurant. We had a pizza and 2 pasta dishes. The pasta was home made and was particularly good. We also love the arancini which came in 4 pieces. The interior is cozy and comfortable. We were rejuvenated for more city walking.
I had dinner here and was pleasantly surprised. The pizza had a crisp base with rich flavors, while the pasta was perfectly al dente and well balanced with its sauce. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a lovely spot whether you prefer a warm corner inside or the buzz of street life outside. Even though it’s located in the busy area near Oslo Central Station, it felt like a little oasis in the middle of the city chaos. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food arrived quickly despite the restaurant being quite busy. All in all, it’s a place I’d gladly recommend – perfect for a quick bite before catching a train or for a longer evening of good food and drinks.
Great experience! The food was very very nice. One of the best pizzas in Oslo for sure. The restaurant has an Italian style and nice environment. A bit of a long time since we ordered until we got the food, it was pretty full though.
