Food is excellent. Had the pork knuckle as I had walked past it the day before and it looked great and couldn't not go here after that. It tasted fantastic. The table also had the ribs that were also excellent. I hadn't planned on eating the whale but it arrived anyway so tried it and was a unique taste. Some will like others won't. The white chocolate cream bacon desert was also very tasty. Service was good, but pricey but did taste good. Shame we couldn't sit inside as outside is a bit of a bus depot. Would recommend tho!

A Must-Visit in Oslo — Especially for the Pork Knuckle! Den Glade Gris was hands-down my favorite restaurant in Oslo. As someone from the States who’s no stranger to barbecue joints, you’d think I’d have encountered a pork knuckle before—but somehow, I hadn’t. And wow, was I missing out. It was a masterclass in savory perfection—crispy, tender, and absolutely unforgettable. We came here to celebrate my son’s birthday, and the staff went above and beyond. They brought out dessert with flair and even sang “Happy Birthday” in Norwegian, which made the evening feel extra special. The décor is whimsical and full of personality—worth checking out the photos if you’re curious. They’re also one of the few places in the world that serve whale. I’m glad I tried it—definitely a novelty and quite tasty—but once was enough for me. That pork knuckle, though? I’d fly back just for that. The food was exceptional, and the staff made you feel like part of the family. Oh, and don’t forget to try a shot of Aquavit aged by traveling around the world… twice. Skål!

Wow what a place. It gets busy so better get a reservation.. we didn’t but we were just lucky. The food is beyond good: it’s great if you are into meat .. We had the pork knuckle (absolutely incredible.. flavour and tenderness) and the bbq ribs also fantastic. We didn’t get dessert because the waitress was so busy that she couldn’t get to us.. not a big deal but it would have been nice. Ambiance is nice.. super lively and busy. Super well located. We will eat here any time for sure !

Ordered the roasted pork knuckle 3-course menu, which started with smoked whale and finished with a white chocolate dessert. The star of the show, the pork knuckle, was perfect—the skin was crispy while the meat was tender and moist. We also got the barbecue ribs, which were good. The meat was tender that it fell right off the bone, and the sauce had a great flavor.

First meal in Norway. The pork knuckle was good with crispy skin and tender meat. Have a beer to pair with it and enjoy alfresco dining. Service staff was fast and responsive. Totally enjoyed the place although we were not expecting to eat pork in Norway!
