The Salmon

Lovely place for a meal in the marina area. The salmon as hoped was delicious. We had the salmon trio of smoked, cured and dried salmon and also the salmon salad. While the salmon in the salad was excellent, the dressing was sparse and I would not recommend it. Surprisingly the Skagen was the best we had in Norway. There is a live DJ with Good music. Definitely adds to the vibe of the place. Reservations are definitely helpful here.

Had lunch on Sunday, plenty of seats. Service was quick. Especially liked the salmon skin. Simple yet delicious. Oysters were a tad too small. Overall great meal

Food was fresh, service was good and friendly, place was packed. Though there was quite a handful of empty tables outside. Reservations needed. Walk ins were not entertained. Had menu 1, 3 course meal. With a white wine of the day.

I had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at The Salmon in Oslo. From start to finish, everything was flawless. We started with the Herring Trilogy, which was a perfect introduction — beautifully presented and full of delicate flavors. The highlight for me was the grilled salmon: incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor — you can truly taste the quality of Norwegian salmon here. The fish & chips were crispy and satisfying, while the salmon soup was rich, comforting, and full of depth. To accompany the meal, I had a Pink Gin Tonic, which was refreshing and paired wonderfully with the seafood. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were attentive, friendly, and professional. It’s clear that this place combines passion for Norwegian salmon with top-notch culinary execution. Overall, this was one of the best meals I’ve had in Oslo. If you want to experience the very best of Norwegian salmon — fresh, flavorful, and served with care — The Salmon is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
