We came here at S. JoΓ£o and had a quick bite with some drink without sitting inside. When we found it had some promotions, we decided to properly try their food. So we booked and had a nice experience. Welcomed by some of the nicest waitresses π we found a dj set and out table was very large on the ground floor. Really, a great praise to the staff who kept smiling and introduced us to the menu. The atmosphere was pretty enjoyable too. We started with couvert including cheese, chorizo, bread, olives and butter. Then we ordered a pastel de nata cocktail that was sweet and very pleasant. A simple yet very tasty salad and for main dish we took roasted veal and sea bass. Both were good and well prepared. For dessert we ordered the baked apple with port wine reduction. Overall a nice experience. In my opinion this place has the potential to become one of the best in town, given the ingredients, the staff and the location. But I encourage the chefs to push a little more and find the perfect harmony in the combination of the flavors together with the presentation. There's room for improvement to achieve the perfection in every single dish. Recommended!
This restaurant is a fantastic place to enjoy great dishes in a modern environment, decorated with love. The service is excellent, thanks to Hugo, who made our dinner a relaxing experience. Thanks Hugo, we enjoyed your service a lot. He explained the menu to us and pointed out, what made the dishes special. We enjoyed a sunday evening with very nice live music. If you sit upstairs, you can have a nice view over the rio Douro, enjoying your drink at special window places. They also have a small terrace, so you can enjoy eating outside as well.
Love having an experience such a fun place. Love the owner and Hugo and the team. Friendly and delicious. Love the dj. Starts with yummy bread and goat cheese butter olives . Drinks were great. Had the steak was like butter. Salads soup . Deserts . So much detail in the recipes . Delicious definitely gets your senses floating . One of my favorite places. A must go to. Tell Hugo barbara sent you. Enjoy on the river view is gorgeous. Thank you all for taking such amazing care of us . Canβt wait to go back. π―π½οΈπ
We found this place online when searching for a restaurant for dinner tonight, and we were not disappointed. We ordered the salad with goat cheese pastry, regular salad, and empanada like pastry with fries. octopus, the special cod dish, and a shrimp dish. We loved everything except the dish with shrimps. We couldn't find the shrimps lol if there were any, they were chopped. The service was excellent, and the drinks were awesome, too. I highly recommend this cute little restaurant.
A hidden gem - the restaurant serves outstanding food. The place was packed in a Thursday evening, the staff was warm and friendly, the owner walked over to our table and asked us about the food. We had the country salad with goat cheese as a starter followed by the risotto in squid ink and the sea bass for mains. The poached pears in red wine and the apple crumble were delectable, and an amazing way to finish an excellent meal! Oh, and the upstairs has great views of the Douro river and bridge. Overall, strongly recommended!!
