The food was incredible, and the service was even more impressive! I visited solo for lunch, and while I've heard dinner might offer an even better vibe, the experience was fantastic. The Portuguese rice with fish was a standout dish—absolutely delicious—and the cod was exceptional as well. Highly recommend!
We had a fabulous meal at Casario on a rainy evening in early May 2025. Pictured are squid and shrimp lollipops, scallops with creamy saffron rice and caviar, and for dessert, almond tiles with apple and mascarpone cream - all of which were delicious. Our waiter, Ignacio, was so welcoming and helpful with advice about Portuguese wine. When there was a no-show for one of the choice window tables, he happily moved us there to enjoy the view. On a warmer, drier evening, I'm sure the outdoor tables with a view over the Douro are spectacular. I highly recommend Casario for a special meal in Porto!
Why Portugal is not mentioned in the great food countries of the world, is beyond me. Personally, I think they should be and this place is another example of why it should be. The produce, the dishes, taste and the staff knowledge were exceptional. Another experience not to be missed. This is only further enhanced by a port selection that would make the Port houses envious, as well as stunning views of the river. Do book well in advance to avoid disappointment, it's quite small and cosy.
Beautiful spot along the water. Was recommended to us by a person we met on a tour. All the dishes we had was phenomenal and staff is very attentive and explained them all. Do not regret coming here and think this is a must visit. Definitely need reservations or you will be out of luck.
Unsure how anyone could not give Casario a 5* rating. The food, the ambiance, and the service was impeccable. The bacalhau was by far, the best we experienced anywhere during our 2 weeks all over Portugal. The views across the Douro at night are wonderful. Maybe not as good as the ports we tasted after dinner. Ask for Nuno, you will have the best meal in Porto!
