I’ve eaten here several times and it never disappoints. The roasted pork sandwiches, cod cakes, and croquettes are always tasty—especially when washed down with a cold Super Bock. Sitting outside is perfect for people watching. Life is good!
We serendipitously had lunch here. This is one of the finest restaurants in Porto. The personnel were amicable and well-informed. They patiently elucidated the diverse dishes. The cuisine was undoubtedly superb and delectable. You should sample the abade prisco at least once to explore the flavors of Portugal.
Food was okay, Pork knuckle was really tasty, falling out of bone, do delicious, however side dish that you get with it was also good but portion is very small and not in proportion with the meat where you get really good amount of it. Other dish however, was nothing special, bacalar with egg and vegetables. It had some tomato taste which is fine but overall lacking some spices or something. Position of restaurant is nice, on the street.
Updated review after went back for dinner-had the traditional dish and fries and neither was that good especially the fries which was probably the worst I had ever 🤪. Stick with their specialty- Excellent traditional Portugal food especially the pork sandwich!🤤busy and managed well and didn’t even have to wait more than a few minutes. Very friendly service. Several levels -ground floor with a bar area and main dining on 1st floor and I heard there is a rooftop too but didn’t go as it was raining
It was our last night in Portugal and I really wanted a delicious traditional meal. We wandered around for quite some time and stumbled on Casa Guedes. We were greeted at the door and asked for a seat on the rooftop. When we reached the rooftop we greeted the server using Portuguese, instead of English, and she smiled broadly and gave my wife a huge hug and thanked us for using her language. This ladies name was Alexandra and she is, without a doubt, the absolute best server I have ever had. She helped us pick the perfect wine, made fantastic recommendations for what to choose for dinner and dessert and made sure that we never needed anything. The food was absolutely outstanding and Alexandra's kindness and outgoing personality were infectious! We soon found ourselves chatting with people at all of the tables around us and sharing experiences about our time in Portugal. This was all because of Alexandra. If you are in Porto and want a great meal and phenomenal service go to Casa Guedes and ask for Alexandra!
