Guide Commentary
# Taverna Sârbului: Where Locals Actually Eat Tucked behind Casa Scânteii, this Serbian spot has quietly become a neighborhood fixture for a reason—it's been thriving for over a decade in a city where restaurants constantly turn over. The setup feels genuinely lived-in: wooden tables sprawled across two levels, a covered terrace where you can eat outside even when it rains, and a vibe that's warm without trying too hard. The Serbian *mici* are spicier and meatier than the Romanian versions, the ribs and steaks hit different, and those donuts? Easily some of the best in the city. Portions are generous enough that you'll actually feel satisfied, and the pricing reflects that value—you're not paying for Instagram appeal here. People keep coming back because the food tastes like someone actually cares about it, and the atmosphere feels like somewhere you belong, not somewhere you're being watched.[1][3].

Great food with excellent service, nice selection of starters and meet dishes. Desert was also good
Food is good but service staff's attitude is not friendly. Maybe we should tip them first before we order and before we eat? Pity such poor attitude spoils the otherwise nice restaurant
Lovely spot with a beautiful terrace, tastefully decorated down to the details. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great place to linger. The food was excellent—full of flavor and generously portioned. My only small note is about the Kaizer: while the portion was huge, it was sliced paper-thin, almost like bacon. Thicker cuts would have really let the flavor shine through. Still, overall, a very satisfying and enjoyable experience. There's plenty to choose from the menu!
We visited this restaurant yesterday and while the food was really good, our overall experience was affected by the service. The waiter who served us had a condescending attitude and spoke to us as if we weren’t welcome or didn’t belong there. We ordered enough and made a decent consumption, so we were quite surprised and disappointed by the lack of basic friendliness and respect. A good meal should be accompanied by good service, and unfortunately, this wasn't the case here.
My second time having Serbian food. I missed out on the branch in Sinaia so decided to visit the one in Bucharest. It was a stomach stretching meal. The spicy bread was fantastic and I really enjoyed the Chocolate Pancakes. Very typical Serbian affair and quite Authentic. Service was fast and efficient. Enough English was spoken to be understood. (Though it helped that I had a Serbian friend recommend the things I should get!)
