⭐️⭐️ (2/5) Not really worth the wait — the food is just average. We ordered a couple of different dishes to try a bit of everything, but the flavors weren’t as good as expected. Prices are fair, and they do offer a free drink if you leave a review, but overall it felt a bit underwhelming.
It’s easy to tell if a Chinese place is good - Can you see any Chinese people eating there? Here there were only tourists and we quickly understood why. All the food we ordered was completely tasteless: The steamed shrimp dumplings, the fried pork dumplings, the sweet potato noodles AND the sizzling (supposedly spicy) beef (accompanied by cold and dry rice). I’ve lived in Madrid for many years and this was the worst Chinese meal I’ve had here so far. I’d been here before and then it was way better with a long line outside… but that was years ago. A no-go place!
From the very first step inside Shangrila Bar Dimsum Barato, I knew I was in for something special. Nestled in the vibrant heart of Madrid, this place is nothing short of a hidden gem. The moment I entered, I was greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality that immediately made me feel at home. Let’s start with the food — absolutely divine. Every dim sum dish that landed on our table was a small masterpiece, crafted with love and bursting with authentic flavors. From the delicately steamed dumplings to the crispy golden spring rolls, each bite transported me straight to the bustling food stalls of Hong Kong. The ingredients were fresh, the portions generous, and the flavors perfectly balanced. Their signature pork siu mai and shrimp har gow were standouts, and the house chili oil? An addictive touch of fire. The service was just as impressive. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and eager to offer recommendations. Their passion for what they do truly shines through every interaction. It’s rare these days to encounter such sincere dedication to guest experience. Now let’s talk atmosphere. The interior design is a beautiful fusion of modern Asian aesthetics and cozy Madrid charm. Dim lighting, tasteful decor, and soft music created a relaxed and elegant ambiance, ideal for both casual dining and special occasions. I found myself sinking into the moment, losing track of time — and that’s the best kind of dining experience. Overall, Shangrila Bar Dimsum Barato is more than just a restaurant — it’s an experience. A flavorful journey through Asia, lovingly presented in the heart of Spain. I can’t recommend this place enough. Whether you’re a dim sum enthusiast or just looking to try something new, do yourself a favor and make a reservation. I’ll definitely be coming back again… and again. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Food: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Service: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Atmosphere: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Amazing amazing food, very quick service and drinks were included if the cost of the meal was 10€ per person. We had the wonton soup which was delicious, the stir fried spicy beef and veggie sartén, fried rice with chicken and rice noodles. The staff were very helpful and service runs fast!
The food was SO good! And the Chinese waiters gave us homemade chill sauce! I had such a wonderful experience here and would totally recommend anyone to come if you’re craving authentic Chinese food! ❤️🫶
