Eating Ceviche has been a big dream of mine since I read all the books from Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Now that I fulfilled my dream, I can say I'm so much happy I stopped by! The salmon and tamarind Ceviche is incredible (bottom bowl in the pic), as well as the Tiraditos (we tried octopus and seabass). An overall incredible experience!

Both the food and service at Cevitxef were exceptional. Special mention to Jota, who was very attentive. He described a couple of the dishes to us and also made excellent cocktails. I would definitely recommend Cevitxef.

3.5 stars. Comparing it to the quality of other places we've been in 2 weeks, this unfortunately doesn't make the top. The dishes are somewhat overpriced, and they recommend you to take 3, but you really only need 2 (unless you really can eat a lot of raw fish, I suppose). One of the combinations (more classic) ceviche was great, one was a bit too sweet and lacked a fresher twist. The concept with having Ceviche where you choose the "soup" (leche de tigre) is interesting though. Pasta with crab was somewhat unbalanced (tasted mostly like crab, pasta consistency also not quite there, no other interesting flavours in the somewhat sweet sauce). The margarita was very sour and the twist of Cointreau that they talked about was just not present. Overall, not bad, can't complain about quality, but seems to me something of an overhyped place with Instagram interior. For 100 EUR for 2 people you can do better in Bilbao.
