Delicious food! Rhubarb coctail is one of the best one I have ever had. Recommended! ❤️
The foods were above average but not Wow. The sea crayfish soup was full of umami, creamy but not heavy. However it was too salty to my taste, had to request for extra bread to eat it up. The beef tartar was pretty good, the meat was cut not too finely which was to my liking, plus the egg cream was very tasty. But the ramson capers didn’t really bring out the special aroma of ramson, so I failed to taste the specialty of the dish.
I got the Beef Tartar which was accompanied by "bell-pepper and capari mayo" but it just tasted like liquid smoke. Then I had the flank steak. It was good but definitely not wow, I've definitely had better for less money. Plus there was no side and no presentation, it was just the meat with a handful of celeric cubes thrown in there and the whole thing looked like it just randomly fell on the plate. My partner had spätzle - again, definitely had better elsewhere for cheaper. Plus the portion was so tiny! And for desert we had strawberry sorbet (which tasted exactly like what we make at home by simply crushing strawberries with sugar and freezing it, so nothing breathtaking or surprising) with frozen cream cheese which was clearly either frozen too quickly or re-frozen. The staff was really nice but the food was a big letdown.
Dining at Restaurang Familjen feels like stepping into a cozy, stylish Nordic home, where the warmth of genuine hospitality meets the artistry of modern Swedish cuisine. The atmosphere is inviting and relaxed, perfect for those seeking a less formal yet thoughtfully crafted dining experience. Each dish is a masterclass in balancing traditional flavors with modern creativity. I started with the fried haddock, crisp and golden, perfectly complemented by a creamy dill sauce and earthy mushrooms—a delightful combination that felt comforting yet refined. The main course, grilled picanha, was tender and juicy, harmoniously paired with king oyster mushrooms, bringing a playful surf-and-turf vibe to the plate. What sets Familjen apart is its attention to detail, from the quality of ingredients to the presentation. It’s a place where you feel both at home and inspired by the culinary creativity. Overall rating: 8.8/10.
With a bill of 490sek per pax, it proved an economical choice. The ice cream dessert was the best I've ever tasted, Love the croquette. Areas for improvement: the artichoke mousse smell weird, the pork loin had a strong pork smell.
