Anopolis

It was just a weird experience… I was there with my parents (last sunday - 7th September). They wanted to sit outside, so we chose the last free seats - bar stools (which is totally fine). But probably because of this choice the waiter judged that we’re not even worth attention. We patiently waited (I get it - there were a lot of people), but when he came to us, he didn’t even give us menus. He was like „hello, what do you need?”. My dad said coffees. And for me a normal reaction would be if a waiter gives at least some kind of list. But he was again like „what kind of coffee?”. Excuse me… How am I supposed to know if I don’t even know what you have? So my dad said the first one that came to his mind. Well, I didn’t want a coffee, so I passed. I’m not gonna lie - I wanted a good coctail. But I’m not gonna run to bartender and guess if he can do mojito, pina colada or sth else and then I wouldn’t even know the price. Maybe if had a menu I would order some lunch or a quick snack. But at this point I was just mad and resigned. After few minutes the coffees were ready, they were on the bar, but the waiter didn’t really hurry to give them. I know it, because I was looking at these two cups and started to wonder if I should get them myself. Finally my parents got their drink and I was just waiting for them to finish and go somewhere else. In the end we found out that the total price was 6 euro. So it’s not expensive and it’s not about the price, but about a whole process - I like to know in advance how much I’ll pay. I don’t care if I take sth for 3, 10 or 50 euros. I just want to be prepared. Besides, my parents weren’t really content with their drinks. The only nice thing was that in the meantime we received the water. So that’s why I give two not one star. Maybe it was just a big misunderstanding… But tbh I just felt judged by the cover - maybe we were a trouble, because we’re not Greeks and they had to communicate with us in english. In every good restaurant you should greet your guests and give them the menus, so they’d know what you offer and for what price (even if you have a menu in greek, we would translate it using app). And we were just treated as they wanted to get rid of quickly. So I can’t even rate the food, because not only I didn’t eat there, but I didn’t even know what dishes they have. Yes, I know - some say I overract, but first: every other guests received a nicer approach (the waiter even helped them to move the chairs, I saw them reading the cards), second: I really wanted to try a good coctail and lunch (lucky enough, I got it in different place not far away). It’s a shame, because it’s the only unpleasant situation in greek restaurant (other places were truly wonderful). I truly hope that other guests will have a better experience than us in this one

We visited recently on our trip to Thessaloniki. It's in a nice location close to the castles so if you can walk to it, I think it's best. The food was really good and with good prices! I've personally dined there many times and I keep coming back! They also serve coffee and brunch so one can also visit early in the morning. Definitely worth a try!

Served by an imponent and gorgeous personal trainer, we requested a greek salad, a mix sausages plate and 2 local beers! The food was delicious and abundant! AND it was very cheap! Best so far in Greece!

Wonderful little bar, all day bar to be honest!!! Unique colorfully decor and surprisingly good food at very reasonable prices. Several draft beers & drinks. Very friendly service with a smile & proposals to order. Thessaloniki’s old part is unique & you have to pair it with gastric haven too!!! Walk by the “ Vlatadon church “ and enjoy the best city view!!! By the wall less than 50 meters is Anopolis overviewing the inner wall next to the park! Have some meze like “ soutzoukaki “ Greek salad “ & raki !!! Locals love it !!! For returning, walk through the alleys of the old town visiting Byzantine Churches & enjoy the view!!!
