Had a great meal here on a fully booked evening. The food was very tasty and well presented. The meals aren't huge but it's all about quality not quantity. The staff work very hard and we really enjoyed the night.
Dinner with family in this nice place. People took care of us quickly and we were also able to anticipate looking to menu prior to the dinner. Decent level of choice. We have been served quickly for starters, a bit slower for the mains and we saw everything accelerating when the deadline of 22h14 was coming. The place is nice but a bit noisy especially when you are close to a US family 😀 Nice plates, well cooked with enough in the plate. People have been really nice. A very good place
Came with the mother over the bank holiday weekend whilst up to see the Tattoo, lovely little restaurant nestled away. The service from the staff was wonderful and very helpful the food you couldn't fault it. Will definitely be going again when I'm next up.
Probably my worst experience in Edinburgh and that's too bad as I heard good things about the food. However when I walked in, I was greeted by stern and rather unfriendly hosts. The minute I said I had no reservations the host in a black blouse whispered under her breathe to the other lady. The tables they suggested were in what i would call a waiting room. When I asked to be placed once a spot opened up, without blinking she said no every thing is reserved. While I understand reservations are priority, the attitude of these ladies were pretentious and rude. Someone came from outside and stood right next to me for half my meal. The food was lackluster at best, the venison was not delectable. The mackerel pate was salty and very bland. Took forever to even get the check. Overall the worst dining experience I've had.
A Scottish restaurant with a focus on traditional flavors. I tried the Scottish cheese plate and the soup special. The soup was fantastic, but the cheese plate was disappointing. The brie was okay, the blue cheese good, but the third cheese was just gross. Chutney and crackers were fine, celery underwhelming, and grapes juicy. Presentation overall was sloppy. I didn’t eat much since I had an afternoon tea tour afterwards, but I did wish I had tried a pudding - others seemed to enjoy them. Prices are excellent, making it a worthwhile visit despite a few letdowns. MAKE A RESERVATION if you want to sit in the main nice part of the restaurant or by a window. I also appreciate that the bathrooms had free hand lotion.
