I went to Dishoom in Edinburgh and honestly, I found the food pretty mediocre. The place itself looks great — the interiors have a nice Bombay café feel and the atmosphere is lively. Service was friendly too, no complaints there. But when it came to the food, nothing really stood out. It wasn’t bad, just not memorable, especially given the prices. For the hype, I expected a lot more flavour and something special, but it fell flat. Overall, it’s a nice spot if you want the vibe, but for me the food didn’t live up to it.
Dishoom Indian Edinburgh Without a booking and with a 15m line out the front, I waited less than 10 minutes. To begin Salted oat milk lassi, Strange yet moreish, only strange because I thought it would be sweet not savoury. I waited 5 minutes for my food. Entree/ main Vadu Pau, a Bombay staple, hot crunchy titbits with potatoes and chutneys inside a soft housemade bun. "Up to date vegan Pau Buaji" "an old time favorite with lovely new qualities" Spicy, mashed vegetables with a tomato essence, with homemade vegan buns to dip. Made without butter on the traditional silver Bombay-esq tray "cutlery optional". This was wholesome, rich with flavors all complementary to the others and the flavor of the various mashed vegetables, this was absolutely delicious. Both meals served together complemented the other, neither being too big, "or expensive both kess than 10 pounds. Basmati Kheer for dessert, served in a chalise. It was was a silky caramelized coconut mylk rice pudding infused with cardamom and cashews layered with blueberry compote. The crunchy brulee like top ads a further appealing texture. Though the spice level was mild+ in both dishes, I still appreciated the lassi, serving a purpose after all. And finally the rice pudding stamped the wax on a wonderful experience. My main server Fabio seemlessly attending to a number of tables assisted by un intrusive check ins from other staff. Dishoon Edinburgh is definitely worth your time suitable for all dietary restrictions and enjoyment.
Loved it, the atmosphere of the restaurant is fantastic and the food is incredible, the flavour and spice is spot on. The server we had was called Ally and he was brilliant too, super friendly and really cared. Intact all of the staff were brilliant. I'd go back tomorrow! Also, never had Okra fries before, they were incredible!
I had such a wonderful experience at this Indian restaurant Dishoom during my stay in Edinburgh. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was quick, and the staff were so welcoming and helpful. I enjoyed it so much that I went there twice a week while I was in Edinburgh. I truly hope they open a branch in Dubai soon it would be amazing to have the same experience here❤️
We’ve been waiting to come to this renowned restaurant for years. There was a short wait today. The 30 minutes they told us ended up about 10. Everyone was charming, knowledgeable and excellent in every respect. I especially appreciated the allergen menu together with a confirmation from the back of the house that there were no allergen issues with our meal. An exceptional experience all around.
