Browns Covent Garden is a delightful spot for a quintessentially English high tea with friends. The art-deco interior feels like stepping back into a glamorous 1920s London lounge, with gleaming brass accents and plush seating. Tiered trays arrive piled high with delicate sandwiches, warm scones, and decadent pastries, and the team is certified gluten-free and caters to allergies like true professionals. The lively yet relaxed atmosphere keeps conversation flowing as easily as the tea and bubbly, though the gluten-free tray could use a little more variety and a few extra fruits in the pot of cream to really shine. It’s popular for good reason, so be sure to book ahead for this stylish afternoon treat.
I had the absolute pleasure of being looked after by Vida at Brown’s, and she honestly made the evening unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, her warm welcome and genuine smile set the tone. She was attentive without being intrusive, knew the menu inside out, and gave brilliant recommendations that were spot on. What really stood out was the way she went the extra mile – nothing felt like too much trouble, and she managed to balance professionalism with such a friendly, personal touch. It felt like we were being hosted rather than just served. Vida is a credit to Brown’s – if you’re lucky enough to have her as your waitress, you’re in for a fantastic experience!
We had a lovely brunch on Sunday. Staff were attentive & professional. Food was amazing. Great atmosphere. Highly recommended. Anu was very helpful and gave us a great service.
We recently visited when watching The Cursed Child, and picked this restaurant due to its gluten free friendly reputation. The service was really excellent and seating was spacious with a lovely interior. They had some great gluten free option for children, and my little one opted for the sea bass, which was cooked beautifully. Others had fish and chips which looked lovely but they said was lacking a little flavour and the chips were not triple cooked and crispy. I had the chicken and thyme roast dinner which I did send back as it was like warm, but was delicious once heated up. The brownie and trifle desserts were good. Overall it was a lovely meal, pricey but fresh food that tasted great. They do add a service charge, so be aware that you don’t get to choose your own tip amount. The service is very good and staff are very friendly.
