Great atmosphere with OK food. We ordered a grilled pumpkin starter, which is quite unique and was refreshing indeed. We then got a duck ragu pasta with sherry vinegar base, and a sherloin steak with seaweed fries. The duck ragu pasta was decent, and its worth the price as its in the half-price menu. However the steak was quite disappointing. It was very dry and too pricey for the quality. If you were looking for a steak finner then there would be more/better options. The seaweed fries tasted perfect, we really liked that subtle touch of seaweed flavour, and its seasoned very well. Overall it will be a 3. It just was not worth the price over quality. A bit short for a michelin guided.
Great restaurant with delicious food. We had an early table booking at 6pm and it was very quiet on arrival (only table in) then got busier from 7ish. Would recommend the cod loin. Couldn't fault the food or service!
Was really looking forward to visiting with friends and we were all completely disappointed. The wine menu is overpriced with the wine priced normally, not what you’d want. Overall our experience was poor from beginning - it was freezing when we arrived and boiling by the time we left. Our snacks and starters were all served at the same time to be told that it was a mistake but then by the end of the meal when speaking to a member of staff about our experience, we were told that’s how it comes. The decanter for our red wine was the dustiest thing I’ve ever seen and staff members didn’t know how to open the wine or pour it - which is concerning for a place charging £950 for a bottle of wine that you can buy for £150. The food was just ok and allowing really rowdy people at the bar to just have drinks while people are trying to enjoy their meal is odd when there are 2 other floors for that. Spotted another comment from a review that said the Michelin Guide seemed to really miss the mark on this one and unfortunately I agree.
My partner surprised me with a meal at Maya for my birthday. From the staff at the reception to our waitress (Amy), the service was fab! We were given a free glass of fizz and a lovely birthday plate at dessert. We felt looked after without it being overbearing. The food was absolutely delicious and they did a good job at giving us time between courses so we weren't rushed. I've already recommended it to my friends.
Went for a celebration with friends and it was such a lovely experience. The food was innovative and presented really well. Standout dishes, we couldn't agree on between the four of us, but the starters of pear, persimmon and mushroom parfait were hot faves. From the mains we all raved about the pasta and how the citrus in it added a lovely dimension to it. Our server was just a delight too! The January offer was an absolute steal of a deal!
