I ordered the fava with octopus after seeing so many glowing reviews, but it didn’t live up to the hype. The sauce had a slightly artificial aftertaste, and the octopus didn’t feel as fresh as promised. The spicy pepper meze was bland and uninspired, and the tsipouro was far from exceptional — but hey, you get what you pay for.
Great food, very fresh. The service was excellent and the staff very friendly. Nice view on the port too. I would come back for sure
Volos style service first experience! Enjoyed the food the the seaside atmosphere and the friendly service.
One tsipouro, one meze — true Volos style! Panagiotis (the owner) was very friendly and took the time to explain how to eat and drink like a local. Great experience, highly recommend if you want to enjoy tsipouro the authentic way.
I walked 10-15 minutes from the center to this place! And I'm so glad I did. So glad! It is a family-run establishment. I was greeted by a lovely woman and a man who used to be a naval officer. Lovely and friendly people! Another "highly" rated place I tried going to was closed despite their hours advertising otherwise. It's a Tsipouradiko that only serves fish: the concept is that for every bottle of Tsipouro you order, you get a few Mezes. I ordered two bottles and got three: the best taramasalata I've had anywhere, so creamy and buttery, the black-eyed peas with smoked fish pastirma and grilled mackerel with potatoes 🥰😋💕. Despite the simplicity of how it all reads and looks, it's hard to describe how fresh and unique it all tasted: the sea in your mouth! 👄 Greek Meze culture at its finest: I never truly understood the concept of a Meze. Now I think I do. The aesthetics of the place itself gives the feel of a fishing lodge: it totally makes sense that the husband was a marine officer 😄 😉. The stone walls, the decoration, the wooden grey and white scaffolding. The music 🎶 is a combination of traditional and modern pop Greek 🇬🇷 music, at just the right volume. The poem in the picture translates to: "Τη νύχτα σου 'πα στο καμπούνι μια ιστορία την ίδια που όλοι οι ναυτικοί λένε στη ράδα τα μάτια σου τα κυβερνούσε σοροκάδα, κι όλο μουρμούριζες βραχνά: Φάλτσο η πορεία..." Νίκος Καββαδίας "At night I told you in the cabin the same story that all sailors tell in the roadstead, your eyes were ruled by the sirocco wind, and you kept muttering hoarsely: The course is wrong..." Nikos Kavvadias Ράδα (Rada) means "roadstead" (a sheltered area near shore where ships can anchor). When it came time to pay, I couldn't believe it all only cost me 10 euros. Good, honest people. I can't wait to come back. In Volos, Greece with you, my loves 💕.
